Chance me for GA Tech.........

I just finished my junior year of high school in Georgia. Georgia Tech has always been my dream college but I am not aware of my chances of getting in. As for my credentials, I took the ACT twice. I made a 28 the first time and a 32 the second time. My weighted GPA is a 4.0 and unweighted is 97.167. By the end of my senior year I will complete the following higher level classes:

A.P. Psych (I made a 106 on it- 99 without the 7 A.P. points)
A.P. Chem
A.P. Comp. Sci.
College English

As for extra curriculars, I want to be a part of the Indian Cultural Club in our school next year. I compere/anchor for different professional programs hosted by TANA (Telugu Association of North America).
I want to go for a TAG internship next year.

I have a my GT page and I will be visiting GA Tech shortly.

I transferred to my current high school in the middle of 11th grade and my previous school (located in another country) had nothing called “more rigorous classes”. Everything was on-level there.
As for ECs, I served in the school cabinet in my old school in one of the highest ranks available (Prefect In-charge). I do not play sports for my school.
I took prestigious exams like:
Australian Chemistry Quiz (by the Royal Australian Chemical Institute)----- Got a distinction
Unified Cyber Olympiad----- Ranked 167 nationwide in India

I have 1st prize certificates in school level singing competitions, debate competitions and essay writing competitions from my old school.

What are my chances of getting into GA Tech?

hey! i am interested in going to georgia tech as well, and I personally think that you have a fair shot at georgia tech! ur act scores and gpa are a match…your extra curriculars are really good as well…the only flaw in your app might be the fact that you haven’t taken high level math courses, because 94% of the people at georgia tech have taken ap calc or higher…so maybe if you squeeze that into your schedule next year, it will only strengthen your chances

chance me back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussion/comment/18637305#Comment_18637305

Thanks for the reply! I think I should take college calc. the summer after 12th grade. When I transferred from my old school, since we did not have anything called accelerated classes, I had to go to an on-level math class here. So, I guess the only option I would have is to take College Calc. next summer as I am taking Pre-Calc. in 12th grade.

@CHCollege123 ohhh well that makes sense, and its not your fault …what was your act math subscore?

ACT Math was 33

then i think you have a fair shot at georgia tech!

Ga Tech would definitely be a reach if you won’t be taking AP Cal at the time of application. Also, the GPA is a bit low, but the ACT makes up for it. All in all, I think it’s going to be a medium-high reach in my honest opinion.

@tigerrocks13 How can a 4.0/4.0 GPA be low? Are you calculating it the GA Tech way? I have a 4.0 GPA according to my high school and it is the maximum we can have in our school.

4.0 weighted is low for a Georgia Tech caliber school. Unless you put that by accident and meant 4.0 unweighted.

Oops… my bad… 4.0 GPA was unweighted… I haven’t done my weighted GPA yet. I guess that would be above 4.0 because I made good grades on my AP classes. Thank you for letting me know!

Ok good hahaha. With that new information… The lack of the high math class will still definitely hurt. And if at all possible, I’d try to get the ACT score up maybe a point if at all possible and get a good score on SAT. With that and being an in state student, you’ve definitely got a good chance. Maybe 75-80% I’d say.
