Hi everyone :) I'm a high school senior from CA, and I'm really interested in Gallatin right now.
Here are my stats, can you tell me my chances (duh)

Extracurriculars: Blogging (manage my own website) - 4 years
FBLA (PR committee) - 1 year
Environmental Club (just a member) - 1 year
National Honors Society -2 years

Work Experience: Content Writer for a Chicago-based startup
Contributor (article writer) to London-based online magazine
Writer for local Sierra Club newsletter

Special Circumstances: 1) I moved to America a couple of years ago - I'm not an immigrant, I just moved with my family so
I didn't have much triuble fitting in etc. but the move has had an impact on who I am so I have a
story to tell in my application..

2)I am also doing this concurrent enrollment program where I spend senior year of high school in
community college and take all my classes at the college level. So I have a bucketload of
college credit

Volunteer Experience: I volunteered a local organic farm during the course of 11th grade. About 50 hours of service

Teacher Recommendations: History Teacher and English Teacher + Counselor Recommendation (I'm really close to my
counselor)

If I go to Gallatin, I want to combine environmental science, and writing and some other things...

Well to start off, I think your ACT is amazing. Im pretty sure it correlates to around 2280ish on the SAT which is phenomenal! I don’t know what your gpa is, but im guessing its ridiculously high as well since you have that kind of act score. Plus you have all of that college credit

BUT
I think Gallatin looks more into the essays that you send and it heavily favors people with their own businesses or other nonprofit organizations, but having said that you still have the work experience and the EC’s are okay

All in all, I think you have a good shot of getting in in regular decision, but you are almost guaranteed in early decision

Wow your ACT score probably can get you into any schools in NYU. And you are very very good at writing.
Your volunteer work is so cool. I live in CA too, but I don’t live by any farms.
You have a 90% chance to get in regular decision. You could reach higher if you want I guess.
Anyway, good luck Don’t stress out

@bobcat97 thanks! I just switched to Early Decision 2 actually…
@eatpeasplease thank you NYU doesn’t really look at scores that much so I dont consider them my biggest asset. I’m really banking on my writing here…
Good luck you guys!

Wowza! Yes you’ll definitely get in. You have a great story to write about but make sure it doesn’t sound too cliche.

Your scores are phenomenal. I think you have a really good chance. The only downside I see, I’ve seen this before, where students will be TOO confident. Make sure your essay is humble but also braggy.

I think you should be able to get in. Still a reach because NYU is competitive, but your scores are above average and I think the story you have will be VERY helpful for NYU because they like that. It especially helps for Gallatin because it helps bring all your interests and passions together. Your ECs are solid and they will like that you have been consistent despite moving etc. Good luck but I really think Gallatin should work out for you!

@smartcookie333 thanks I really am banking on my writing…I don’t really think my academics are good enough otherwise (no APs etc. because my first high school didn’t offer them). I’m just different and I think Gallatin is the school for me

Hi! Thank you so much for the chance! Are you applying ED?
You have a lot of writing experiences! That would be very helpful if you want an English-based major. Yet, I also think it’s good that you have such a variety of interests, because it should definitely help for Gallatin. You have an amazing ACT score, and your volunteering is very unique, which helps even more. It would be helpful to get more information, but I think you’re pretty solid. Good luck!!

Thanks for the chance! Knowing that NYU is very centered around subjective criteria, I think you have a phenomenal shot. If you have around a 3.8 unweighted GPA or better, then I think you are in. Your story is also unique!

You are definitely an extremely strong applicant and I would say you probably will get into NYU;however, I am just curious as to why ED II as their acceptance rates are the same for RD and ED. Anyway good luck!

I feel like you have really good chances!! ACTs are amazing and for Gallatin - as stated - just make sure your writing is the best you can do!:)
