I’m thinking about applying ED to gwu this fall and I was just wondering if anyone could tell me my possible chances on getting in!! I plan on majoring in political science or foreign affairs but also being on the pre med track! (:

Essay: haven’t written it yet, but I think I’m going to focus on finding happiness on my own and how my family has not contributed to that.
I have a couple thoughts. First let me preface this by saying I am a stranger, the college admissions process is unpredictable, and people’s worth is not determined by the school they attend. You seem like a great student with a bright future. Your GPA is going to be far above the average at GWU, and your ACT will fall probably at the upper 50% of applicants while your SAT is definitely going to put you towards the top. Applying ED will definitely boost your chances, and your extracurriculars definitely align with political science. Pre-med seems a bit less reachable as non of your outside activities seem to be based in the field, but it’s worth a try. Might I also suggest just using your SAT score as that translates to roughly a 31 ACT (per the newly released conversion chart). Lastly, I would be careful with your essay topic. It’s great you found happiness on your own, but don’t make that negative by bringing your family into it. Maybe talk about your independence and pull towards what makes you happy don’t talk about how your family or anyone else in your life didn’t help. The essay should be about y o u . Best of luck! You honestly seem like a great applicant.
Thank you so much for your input!! It really does help put my mind at ease some. I probably could have worded my essay topic better as finding my happiness and who I am despite my family struggles!
Do you know if applying ED would hurt my chances at getting better financial aid?
Thanks again for your help (:
Sounds great! You are an above average applicant, but you need your essay to seal the deal! The average GPA is about a 3.78 so yes your 3.9 is great and your SAT score is above average as well. The financial aid is a huge problem for ED applicants and that is why in a couple years I don’t think ED will exist anymore. I’m not an expert on financial aid but if you go online you will see the many issues ED creates.
