Chance me for Georgetown! Please be honest!

I love Georgetown and would love to go there, but do I even have a shot? Maybe since I’m not doing anything political science related that helps because Georgetown is known for its fields in politics and international relations?
ADVICE ON THINGS I CAN IMPROVE UPON (BESIDES MY ACT SCORE) IS WELCOMED AND NEEDED!!!

GPAs (all weighted) PSA My school weighs weird i dont know why! :
Freshman year GPA - 3.95
Sophomore year GPA- 4.22
Junior Year GPA - 5.29
Senior - TBD
cumulative - 4.6-4.7

I got straight A’s my junior year and took AP psych, AP enviro, Pre IB AP medical intervention, H spanish 4, H english, H gov/econ, H adv dance (it’s a thing at my school lol), and CP Algebra 2 (it’s really hard to move up math levels at my school)
Next year I’m taking 2 APs again AP Bio and AP Lit and the rest honors except for physics

My test scores aren’t great → 27 on the ACT so far but I plan on breaking 30 when I take it again in june & july

ECs: President of the feminist club, VP of outreach (we teach under privileged kids student made health lesson plans), HOSA/HEAL, spanish national honor society, dance national honor society, english national honor society, regular national honors society, I’m going to have a job this summer, I won the award for US Gov H and Spanish 4 H because of my performance in both of these classes, positive spirit award and choreography showcase winner in dance, dance club, freshman helpers club (shows freshman around when they come to high school), high holiday choir, I played 2 JV sports for 2 years but stopped my junior year because of workload, senior mentor, I feed the elderly on thanksgiving, I studied abroad this summer in Israel for 6 weeks, and I worked on a lot of biomedical projects throughout the years.

I know I am going to have good REC letters because my teachers told me they would write me good REC letters and I just fyi if it helps I plan on going Pre- med. Also, I am a pretty good writer so my essay should be good.

THANKS !!!

Also Im VP of the stem outreach club

Subject tests?

I haven’t taken any yet…is it absolutely necessary that I do? I’m thinking Spanish and/ or math level 1 …?

Georgetown “strongly recommends” three subject tests.

you need 3 SAT subject test and you need to do amazing at them tpoo

I wouldn’t get too caught up chasing Georgetown It’s really hard to get in for Val’s and sals with 1500 sat and 34 acts. There are so many amazing schools that would love a hard working and smart student like you. Spread your wings.

What school within Georgetown do you plan on applying to? NHS?

Georgetown College (I’m pretty sure that’s the school for undergrad pre med but I could be wrong). Also I would ED to GU if possible

Do you think it’s hopeless? What if I ED?

No. Not hopeless. But realistically tough for all students. And many with better credentials on paper were rejected or wl this year. But the feminist club and your ecs coupled with great essays could be your advantage. Do you have any other differentiators. Latinx aa or Native American. First generation college student.

No :frowning: and I’m Jewish so i think that makes my chances worst since the school is Jesuit…?

Georgetown does not offer ED; they offer EA. And they are one of very few schools where the earliest-round (ED, REA, etc.) admit rate is not higher than the RD rate. If you are deferred your app gets a second look in the RD round, but still, applying early at Georgetown doesn’t really help a lot, except to show strong interest… but that’s what an early app signals just about anywhere.

27 is probably – unless you are massively hooked – going to lead to a rejection. Definitely pump that up to 31+ to make your app competitive at Georgetown.

@purplepenguin333 Your religion won’t be a factor in admissions. Without a significantly higher ACT score though, you should expect a WL or denial. Even with 30 or 31, that’s still cutting it close. A 30 on the ACT is the 25th percentile for Georgetown, and a 34 is the 75th percentile, so realistically you should aim for a 33+ to be above average.

Also, Georgetown college traditionally has the largest amount of applicants and is therefore the most competitive. I don’t know about the pre-med track specifically but I would suggest looking into the NHS (Nursing and Health Studies)

Ok thanks!

NHs has about 90 students for non nursing majors. It’s much more difficult than the college. Which is difficult on its own. NHS can wl or reject you if non hooked female with 1500+ And 34 #1 in class types. I saw it first hand. I would say look at the ea and rd threads here and look at the posted stats and results.
