I know my stats are strong, but realistically what are the odds for a school as selective as Georgetown? I'm starting to get anxious and don't want to get my hopes up...thank you so much!!!

have you ever been to france? seems off-topic but with your french based stats, it could look great. To be honest you've answered your own question when you said your stats are strong. No real need to chance you.

ehm. isnt cmu just as selective as gtown?

kdm- i have been to france quite a lot, though not for any academic programs. i'm not french, but my mom is a huge francophile and sent my brother and i to a french school/homeschooled us in french once we moved too far away. as a result, i was always a few years ahead of my grade in HS classes. i explained all this in my interview, but there's nowhere to really communicate it in the app...

jgee- yes and no. the school of humanities is by far the least selective. i also applied early decision, and girls from my high school (single-sex) rarely apply there. plus, its twice as easy for girls to get into cmu than guys. georgetown is a different story...their humanities programs are way more selective, and pretty much the top 25% of my HS class applied there.

Geb, this is just a thought, but have u tried any of the womens schools? Barnard/Wellesley/Brynmawr/etc?
Barnard = studying at columbia thats pretty nice... plus you graduate with a columbia degree (in essence).
Wellesley, well u would seriously benefit from wellesley hands down.

I know that womens schools have this sort of vibe that is ridiculous feminism or something (seriously I wonder why feminists fight for the right to work in the sewers or serve on the front lines :P or call everything institutional discrimination). But truly, Wellesley (from my experience) has tons of different women there that are conservative to liberal (lots of just normal moderates) no one will push their opinion on you, and the student/teach ratio is to die for. Also if money matters, I got this sheet from my wellesley interviewer about the financial aid. serious, aid.

Barnard is not as good with aid (and im ultra poor) BUT they have a top education.
Your stats really remind me of many of the students at these top LACs. Try them out =)

I agree with JGee, my sister goes to Wellsley, and she LOVES it.. Though, it'll work you hard, but I'm sure you are well prepared for that.. And they seem to give out pretty good aid.. FAFSA EFC was 30-40k for my sister, and after writing a few letters she got Wellsley to give her a 20k grant.. Oh, and the campus is gorgeous, I went a couple of times to help her unpack/pack, and it's amazing!

Sorry for the scatterbrained response, I'm sort of out of it at the moment >_>...

p.s. i kno women is plural but i dont have an apostrophe.

I actually applied to Barnard, but I live super close to Bryn Mawr and I’d like to be in a big city too, so I’m not sure about the other two…thanks though! I am kind of worried that my stats are so liberal-arts oriented that it will be a negative for Georgetown, since I haven’t taken a math/science class since HS…

wellesley is pretty close to boston. and although theaddress of gtown is d.c., remember it used to be potomac maryland, and a lot of d.c. ppl dont look at gtown in the city.it is really housey and stuff. It is not like GW or Barnard where it is really IN the city with big buildings all around with public transportation. Actually gtown has just one bus… its a heavy walk to impossible walk to the closest metro stop by gdub at Foggy bottom. I lived by the hospital near the international school on reservoir rd and boo… no real pub trans.
