Chance me for Georgetown, UChicago, Stanford

Hello people of the interwebs! I am addicted to chance me threads and I am aware it is a very unhealthy addiction. Anyways I’ve been really trying to weed out the schools I don’t want to go to and the schools I do want to attend. Really categorize all of them and see which are reach schools, match, and safety. If you guys could help me out here by chancing me, that would be awesome.

P.S. I am a junior!

APUSH
AP Human Geo
AP English Lit
AP English Lang
AP Stats
AP Calc AB
WHAP
AP Physics 1
APES
AP Psych

Major: Global Public Health and International Relations or Public Policy
My plan is to eventually become a lawyer in either Public Policy or Health Law. I believe I have a very focused and distinct pathway rather than something super general and I think that can give me the upperhand. I know that I want to focus on health care at a government perspective or I want to work with non profits and maybe have a seat at the UN (lol it’s just a dream).

I know all of these schools are reaches but, I really hope to have a chance and I think I’m a good writer.

Clubs
-Debate team. My events were Domestic Extemp and Congressional Debate where I went to state in both my senior year. Also did Informative Speaking didn’t go to state for it (Member of NSDA) I will most likely be a captain next year as well.

-President of National Honor Society: I really wanted this spot because I get to give a speech at graduation which I know is kind of low. One of my biggest accomplishments because I am in love with service and everything that has to do with community. This was really important to me and I wanted to make my mother happy.

-Created a Club known as Girl UP which raises money for the United Nations for Girls all over the world (President). Far most one of my biggest accomplishments ever! I really love Girl Up and it’s extremely important to me and my little baby, that I nourished! One of the supported girls all over the world. One thing we started a drive at our school that collects pads, tampons, and other stuff for women at Haven for Hope. Created an annual color run called: A Walk For Her was one open to the whole city. Started a girl’s camp over the summer that has different activities for girls at my school that talk about careers and getting in touch with who you want to be called #GirlsCan. We raised a lot of money and ended up sending it to the United Nations and other small companies like Built By Girls and Girls Who Code that help teenage girls out.

-Participate in food distribution every month at church!

-Round Table (We talk about Social Issues and problems) linked up with Girl Up and made a culture fest at my school.

-Future Physicians Club (Secretary); Just a career based club where talk about health professions and visit different
-Youth Community Outreach Leader for church; I organize all the community service activities and clothing distributions that youth in the church does. Also super important to me and I loved it so much! We revamped a clothing distribution at our church and it was super successful. Clothing distribution linked up with the food distribution as well. I love it we’ve done a lot as a group of youth

-Play piano for church every Sunday (I’ve been playing it for a while like 8 years)

-Was in schools Orchestra for two years. Was second chair/first stand led orchestra to sweepstakes at UIL. Did Solo and Ensemble where I received the highest ranking freshman year

-Volunteer work at University Health System over the summer (75 hours+)

Teacher REC’s thinking about getting
Bio Teacher - 10/10 sponsor of my club she’s a GTown alumni
Principal - she knows me very well and I think it would be a good letter
English Teacher - knows me and is aware of my personality

You look like a very strong candidate! GPA weighted is slightly lower than expected considering all the APs/Honors you are taking, how does the weighting work at your school? I would say Georgetown is a target/likely, UChicago the same, and Stanford probably a reach at this point. SAT looks solid, lots of good clubs, good story about struggle. Have you taken all those APs up to Junior year or do they include those you plan to take for senior year?

I think your chances are high, though, UChicago may be the tough one. One thing that may help: what is the size of your graduating class and how does your high-school rank? I’ve found this sometimes plays a large role.

@ImADogGuy my class size is about 730 people currently and might go down to 600 during senior year because that’s what usually happens
@Jeanvaljean123 Hey! I’ve taken everything except Human Geo, AP Lit, Calc AB, and I forgot to mention it but I will be taking AP Macro and Gov senior year

Having divorced parents is not a hook. UChicago and Stanford are reaches for everyone. GTown probably is your best shot statistically speaking, You are a strong candidate. Keep up the great work and hopefully your essays and application will get you noticed.

How many AP classes do people take in your school on average? 13 is quite a collection.
I’d say your chances for all three are better than most people, especially because you’re a minority first generation.

@hobowriter My school offers 21 different AP classes

I see. Well you have a very impressive course load.

Your resume is impressive. With your interests in international public health, I would urge you to also consider Tufts and Johns Hopkins. Both are strong in those areas.

I think you will have a good chance at georgetown and Uchicago. Stanford is a bot of a reach though because of your low unweighted gpa, but you never know what could happen, so apply. I’m also a nigerian 1st gen with seperated parents lol!

chance me back?

Youre African American. You’ll get in.

Everything looks really strong, but being that Stanford is so hard to get into, expect to be rejected from them. UChicago and Georgetown seem like good fits. Good luck!

If you dont mind me asking, how much did you raise in your girl UP club?

From the Walk, we raised about 1,000 dollars. But the #GirlsCan movement we gave about 300 dollars to Girl Up

@Lost153

When you say first generation, do you mean that you’re the first in your family to attend college? If so, that is a big hook, and you should not only consider the three you mentioned, but an ivy or two. Your application is very strong, you should get into Gtown and Chicago, and I will hedge and say wait list at Stanford. If you’re a first generation to attend college, you’re probably in to Stanford.

@theloniusmonk i’m the first generation to be born in America

by first generation, I meant are you the first in your family to attend college. If so, then your chances are much higher with ivies and Stanford.
