Chance me for Georgia Tech?

Background Info:
- High School: Extremely rigorous, top 50 high schools in the nation
- Indian (South Asian)
- Income: 150k

Computer Science Major!

I messed up really bad in high school until junior year. W = weighted, UW, = unweighted
Sophmore year: 3.0 UW (3.167 W), 2.67 UW (2.83W)
Junior Year: 3.67 UW (4.167 W), 3.67 UW (4.167 W)
UC GPA: 3.62

SATs (Barely prepped):
1st attempt: 1850
2nd attempt: 1980

Going to attempt again in October, I'm positive I will get at least a 2100, and possibly a 2200, I'm studying 2 hours daily every weekday over the summer.

ACT:
1st attempt: 32
Going to attempt again in September, aiming for 34 or higher.

SATII: Math (760), Bio (770)

Others:
- 150 hours community service, volunteered at the local library as a teen tech volunteer for 2 years, and also volunteered at a silent film museum
- DECA (Business Club):
- 3rd in Northern California for Math Marketing
- 4th for presentation, 8th overall for Advertising Campaign in States competition
- YouTube Channel on Technology (relates to my major, computer science)
- 2,800 subscribers
- My technology guides and reviews have been watched 1.1 MILLION times
- Started an organization this summer to raise money for charity through online gaming. Raised about $700 so far.
- Intro to Computer Science course over the summer, got an A
- Intro to Programming in C course over the summer, got an A

I have been slacking throughout high school until junior year. At the summer, end of the sophmore year, I went to India and realized I am taking everything I have for granted. While others in India are yearning to learn but forced in mediocre schools, if any, I am slacking off, even though I am given the opportunity (by my parents) to attend one of the nations top 50 high schools. The vacation to India opened my eyes, and I realized I need to make the most of my fortunate situation. I tried throughout junior year, with 3 AP courses, and got a 3.67 unweighted, 4.167 weighted GPA.

What are my chances of getting in? I'm extremely passionate about technology and would love if I could further develop my knowledge by majoring in Comp Sci at great college.

GPA: A bit low, but you can make up for that, I know I did. They love upwards trajectory.

SAT/ACT: If you are 101% positive you will make a 2100+ on the SAT, do it. Otherwise, it may be a waste of time (in my non-expert opinion). Your ACT is good enough that I would use that. A 32 is much, MUCH better than a 1980 on the SAT.

Also, keep in mind that they Super-duper-score, which means they look at both the SAT and ACT and take your best sections out of both and assign a common point value. So lets say you get a 400M and an 800CR on the SAT and a 36M and an 18reading on the ACT. They will count the 36M and the 800CR. So I would send everything. All of your scores.

ECs: Looking good.

SAT(II): Good, great! I think they may have just started to allow SAT(II)s into admission factors. ([Freshman Application | Admission](<a href=“Blow the Whistle! (404 error: page not found) | Undergraduate Admission”>Blow the Whistle! (404 error: page not found) | Undergraduate Admission)), and I would DEFINITELY send these. They can only help you!

All in all: I think you have a good shot! You’re definitely competitive, that’s for sure.

The GPA I’ve calculated is the UC GPA. Not sure how Georiga Tech calculates it. Any help?

SAT wise, I have 640 CR, 620 W, and 720M. How I’m scoring on the ACT now: 33 English, 32 Math, 33 Reading, 34 science

Georgia Tech calculates the GPA by:
F = 0.00
D = 1.00
C = 2.00
B = 3.00
A = 4.00

AP/IB/College Classes get an extra 0.50. Honors classes, magnet classes, and normal classes receive no weight.

<a href=“Blow the Whistle! (404 error: page not found) | Undergraduate Admission”>Blow the Whistle! (404 error: page not found) | Undergraduate Admission;

Oh. If it’s only an extra .5, then my weighted Georgia Tech GPA is a low 3.5…no chance huh? What if I get 2200+ on SAT or 34+ on ACT?

Well, no chance with that attitude. Yeah, you could increase your SAT/ACT score, that’ll definitely not hurt you, but there (I believe) is a limit to how much that standardized tests can help. My [non-expert] advice is to just write a kickass essay. Like, start tomorrow morning. You’ll have months to perfect the two essays, and they should be works of art that will make you stand out beyond the normal high SATs and GPAs. Basically, the advice is all the same from everyone. Obviously, you should strive for the best scores you can get, and that may get you in! But remember, the SAT only goes up to 2400. There is no limit to how much your essays can shine.

I see, I’ll get started first day in August :D
