Chance Me for GT's CS program!

Chance me! I’ve never done this, so if it isn’t enough information feel free to ask questions in the comments. I busted in yesterday’s “Preview Tech” event, and am absolutely in love with GT College of Computing!

Edit-I must note that I already applied, EA all the way! I have hopes for the Stamps scholarship, but let’s be honest out of 10 OOS students will it really be me?

Demographics-
Indian Male born in the US. OOS, middle class. Senior in HS.

Scores/grades:
36 ACT (36’s on English and Reading, 35’s on Math and Science)
1540 SAT (790 Math, 750 EBRW)
800 Physics Subject SAT
790 Math 2 Subject SAT
Class Rank 2, GPA 4.23 weighted (would be higher but all freshman classes were unweighted so they were only 4’s)
I got 1 C (APUSH, semester 2 10th) and a few B’s.
AP’s: Phys1-4, Phys2-5, CSPrinciples-4, CSA-4, Chem-4, Lang-4. Will take both PhysC’s, Calc BC (self-studied AB over summer) and Lit.

EC’s:
-I founded a nonprofit. Won’t reveal the name, but I and my colleagues from HS work to bring STEM and Technology resources closer to students. We are going to hold a class on Arduino programming with a certain local library this coming Spring.
-Played guitar since 6th grade, have worked as an assistant teacher for gtr/piano at the same studio I learn at since last October.
-Participated (-ing) in various math/CS competitions including AMC, ARML, HiMCM, GPML, and CS competitions put on by State Universities (won’t reveal for privacy reasons).
-Have earned a provisional Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do.
-Am an avid tech hobbyist-I tinker with Arduinos, digital logic electronics, Scratch (when I was younger), Java, and have earned my FCC Amateur Radio Licence-technician class. Some of my hobby projects include a Morse Code transceiver over laser light, a Binary 5-bit adder, and an automated plant-watering system with a moisture sensor.
-Have done well in Academic Decathlon State Level- Sophmore year, I earned a perfect 1000 in Speech (and a gold medal). Junior year, I earned gold in Science, Interview, and Essay.

Awards-
-Varsity Letter Junior Year
-President’s Volunteer Service Award-Gold
-Academic Decathlon prizes (see above)
-Second in an Individual CS challenge and Third in a team CS challenge
-National Merit Semifinalist, in the race for Finalist

I think my essays were decent. Had 5 ppl look at it so it’s been polished many times, let’s hope it was enough times!

I would think you have a good chance of being admitted.

I thought GT has about 40 stamps and they give half in state and half OOS.

There is also the provost scholarship that reduces OOS tuition to instate levels, think there is 40 of those for OOS students.

I can’t chance you, but your stats and ECs are competitive.

Ga Tech will look at your unweighted GPA (what is yours?), and of course the school is a reach for all OOS applicants with an EA acceptance rate last year of 14% for OOS students and an overall OOS acceptance rate of 16% (that OOS rate also includes international students). Make sure to have match schools on your list as well as at least one affordable safety that you would be happy to attend.

Good luck.

Unweighted is about 3.79 (pretty terrible)

Your GPA is on the lower end of accepted students with ~95% having a gpa above 3.74. Your rigor seems pretty good, but you will be going against OOS students that have gone beyond BC in math. You are competitive for getting accepted but not sure about scholarships.

Georgia Tech will not look at your weighted GPA. The average unweighted GPA at Georgia Tech is a 4.0. Your unweighted GPA might be an issue despite your excellent test scores. I don’t think Stamps is in your future as it is extraordinarily competitive. Wishing you luck!
