Chance me for GW!

Hi, I plan on applying to GW early decision or regular decision. I have not yet decided. Can you please chance me for this school?
SAT scores: 1830 (taking again in October I want a 1950.)
SAT II- French 800, US History 650.
GPA unweighted: 3.85
Weighted: 4.34

Extra curriculars:
JV Swimming, Varsity xc, Varisty lacrosse, President of French NHS, NHS member, French club treasurer, Spanish club VP, Key Club member, School Newspaper journalist, Student Government, Habitat for Humanity volunteer, volunteering on local government campaign, 200 hours of volunteering. Should I join more?

Junior year schedule: Algebra 2, AP French, APUSH, Honors English 11, Physics, Honors Accounting, International Studies. I got an A in all these classes except physics. So far I have gotten 1 B on my report card every year. Rest are A's.

Senior Schedule: AP Lit, AP World History, AP Computer Science, AP Government, Honors Government experiences, PreCalculus, Enviromental Science.

I will have taking 6 AP Classes in high school and 7 Honors.
btw I'm a white male.

I want to study at the Elliot School. I want to major in International Relations and French or Russian.

Your gpa and ap classes are great, your community service is on point, your other extra curriculars are good as well, just try to raise that sat score a little bit. A 1860 or higher would be enough because your gpa will offset your scores being a little low. If you got a 1950, I would say that you will get into GW, and other schools as well as GW.

bump bump!

I would say that if you got your SAT up to a 2000, you’d be accepted for sure. Your gpa is solid and so are your Extracurriculars. You took a good amount of AP/honors classes, so that should be helpful. If you are applying ED, I would say your stats are pretty good as is. Otherwise, if you are applying RD, definitely raise the SAT a little bit. Also, make sure your “Why GW?” essay and common app essay are flawless.

Thanks for the info GWbro17. GW is my favorite school and I’m really thinking on applying ED. I just loved everything about the school when I visited. I am taking the SAT one more time and I hope I can get a 1950-2050.

I am going to really focus on my essay. I have so much passion to be in this school, so I hope my essay will be good.

Is there anything else you suggest I do?

Just make sure that in your GW essay you explain why you’re so passionate about the school. They always read essays that talk about the ideal location, but that isnt what they like to see. If I were you, I would definitely talk about your passion for international relations, because the Elliot school is a very renown and competitive IR school. You should also talk about what else draws you to the school and elaborate on that.

I’m going to be an incoming freshman at GW… Message me! I would love to help you out @Ruotsi. I think you have an excellent shot.

Thanks for the advice GWBro. I am visiting the school again and am planning to have an interview sometime in fall. I’ll definitely talk about the Elliot School and not just the location in my essay. Thanks so much!

Hi there!

So I’m a senior in high school now, and I’m getting ready to apply to colleges.

I live in VA, and am half Indian half Pakistani.

I am applying to George mason, James Madison, Christopher Newport, and VCU.

Just a couple days ago my mom told me I should apply to george Washington just to see if I get in.

I want to major in law; it has been my passion for a while now.

My gpa up to the 11th grade is a 3.0. I have taken 4 pre IB and IB classss and for my senior year I am taking 5 IB classes.

I got B’s and C’s freshmn year. All b’s sophomore year, and A’s and B’s junior year. I have improved tremendously.

My ACT score is a 22…but I hope to get around a 27/28.

I have over 50 service hours, and I intern at my dads office. I have donated my hair, I have played tennis for 8 years, piano for 8 years, and golf for 3 years. I really hope to get all A’s and a few B+'s my senior year! If I apply for regular decision, and if my interview goes well, do you think I might have a chance at getting accepted?

I hope to hear from you soon

Thanks a lot!
