Good SAT1 (superscore) but poor SAT2. You should be high match to low reach for Cornell, reach for the other 2.

You should be good for all if you can retake the sat IIs

bump. I’d like more opinions - I could take 2 SAT IIs in October, but are my current SAT IIs so bad that they would do significant harm to my chances? What about my chances with Cornell?

chances for cornell are okay. sat IIs are a little low for cornell. i would definitely retake in october and try for anything over a 750. that will increase your chances at all 3 schools

Since all 3 schools require SAT subject test scores, I agree that the scores are low. Don’t know if that would be a deal breaker though- what seems deficient are your EC’s.

Your SAT II scores are definitely low. SAT II scores happen to be a vital portion of the Academic Index score that Ivy League schools assign to applicants (Read the book “A is for Admissions” for more info). Your SAT I scores are top notch; your GPA and class rank are top notch; all that’s missing ACADEMICALLY is SAT II scores. Ideally you want to aim for around 740+ on all your SAT II tests to really show proficiency in those areas. If you can accomplish this, you have as good a chance academically as any student in the county to get into these schools. Do note that ECs (I agree with the above poster that this is actually your true weakness) and essays play a huge part in Ivy League admissions so you need to nail those too!

I can’t do anything about my ECs at this point. The minimum I need to come out of this whole college app process happy is that I get into Cornell. So suppose that I have a very very good essay and very very good recommendations, and I take 2 more SAT IIs and score 750+ (keeping in mind that cornell looks at ALL scores, so will see my 600 range SAT IIs as well), do you think I’ll have a reasonable shot at getting into cornell?
