Now I feel like I should have applied by October 15th. I’m kicking myself for not doing so. However, how would this be possible for someone submitting an arts supplement considering the arts supplement isn’t open until October 15th? Maybe if I tell myself I had an excuse to not do it then, it’ll make me feel better :)

Is there any difference in applying say, October 20th, compared to October 31st?

Stop! Students that rush to make the preferred deadline (or some arbitrary one like October 20th) probably should have spent the extra time polishing their essays, or putting the finishing touches on their Art or Music Supplement. It’s not a race; the first to submit their applications DO NOT get accepted at a better rate. In fact, I would say it’s just the opposite: All things being equal, student’s who take their time to craft a “bullet-proof” application, one that is completely in-sync, who have sought and received feedback on their essays from the teachers who are writing their recommendation letters, who have crafted a dynamic Art, Music,or Computer Science portfolio, have just as good a shot – maybe better than those that submitted early. If you go through the SCEA or RD Pledge Thread’s you will find many accepted students who waited until the last minute to submit their application. Relax. Take a deep breath . . . and press the button when YOU are ready!

Please please please don’t mention 5th grade awards on a college application. You will look like the biggest idiot out there. Good luck with harvard my school had 4 kids get 2400 and none got into Harvard. (They also had great music and varsity sports)
