Subjective:
Extracurriculars (place leadership in parenthesis):
1) co-founded an international and domestic organization HOPE, which sends supplies (clothing, bedding, toiletries, etc) to orphans in haiti and (eventually) costa rica. I really hope this could be the thing that compensates for my average/lower scores and makes me stand out. It started in my freshman year with a few drives to collect the stuff and currently has spread to elite private schools across the nation. I brought it into the camp where i work (the color war). Kids brought in supplies for points for their team and i did the same thing with my school's color war. One of the other founders went to costa rica and is trying to open connections to an orphanage there. But yeah we've collected tons of boxes, enough to fill a shipping container, and it's being sent to Haiti soon by this family we starting talking with. We've also recently spread to Baltimore and a big feeder school there (they have their own events). We have a legit website and everything (which im not putting on here, sorry!! haha im paranoid) and yeah.
2) Art! I'm in AP studio art and have had my paintings/drawings exhibited in 2 places (one of them in a university, another in a gallery) and have won a national award, hoping for some more awards later?. This one really is my passion. I'm the vice president of the national art honor society and gave a presentation on working with acrylic paint.
3) Helped organize a 5K for an organization which tries to send disabled kids to a summer camp. Worked with the founder (who's currently in Harvard) and drove him around to get sponsorships, helped set up the day of the race and made sure things were going smoothly.
4) Fit and Fun, working with kids with special needs teaching them to get active and have good social skills. Every sunday for 4 months at a time at a local community center. I did this cause i have an autistic cousin and I knew how hard it is to have those problems and I kinda wanted to do it for him i guess . I couldn't do it this year though cause SAT tutoring is at the same time, but i'm doing it again next year.
5) Yearbook editor in chief, made the entire yearbook for 2 years cause all of the other members dropped out -_____- lol. but it's been a really big job making it for all 12 grades of my school
6) NHS (helped organize our chapter's MS walk team), Key club editor (writing about activities our chapter had done), operation smile (helped make blankets for kids after surgery)

Job/Work Experience: Worked at a summer camp where I used to go every summer since 9th grade. I've done a variety of things there from helping in the office (answering phone calls, filing, helping parents, etc) to working with nursery-school aged kids

Volunteer/Community service: See extracurricular activities

Summer Activities: Summer camp job^, SAT Course, Shabbaton committee- working with other students at my school to plan the school's annual vacation, working on HOPE

Essays: Writing about how my mom with MS (included how i gave her her injections) and my father who passed away affected me and gave me a newfound appreciation for life and changed my perspectives. Just finished it -- honestly going to be one of my strongest points!

Teacher Recommendation: 2 AP teachers, us history and enviro- hope both will be really good
Counselor Rec: very good
Additional Rec: none
Interview: i dont think i'll be able to :/

thank you!!!!!

schools:
-harvard SCEA
-yale (would submit ACT, taking SAT 4 times and don't want to submit that)
-upenn cas (submitting ACT)
-tufts
-university of fla
-duke
-emory
-UNC chapel hill

Very good stats. The only thing I’d be concerned about is your CR/M combined score of 1430. It’s a great score but I think it’s your main weakness right now, so if you can raise that on the October test I think you’ll be very competitive.

Harvard SCEA, Yale, and UPenn - Reach, just because they’re reaches for everyone.

Tufts - Match

University of Florida - Low Match/ Match

Duke - Low Reach

Emory - High Match

UNC chapel hill - Match

Focus hard on studying for the SAT’s next month and everything will fall into your grasp. Even if you don’t get your score up, don’t be discouraged, you’re still competitive. Good luck!

Chance me here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1548785-do-i-need-more-safety-schools-my-list.html</a></p>

Yep. Ivies are reaches, but I think you’re competitive; being the VP of a national organization isn’t something most applicants have. I think Tufts, Duke, and Emory are attainable, while UFlorida and UNC are more or less safeties at your level. Good luck!

I hate to be that guy, but chance back? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1548814-chances-princeton-rea.html</a></p>

thanks everyone! and sure, i’ll chance you guys back right now

Your first and second ECs sound really great! Those seem to the ones you obviously care about. If you can show AOs how much effort you put into your work and your art through an essay, you’ll have a very competitive application!
You should try to boost your SAT scores too, but everything else sounds good.

As people have already said here (and on your previous chance thread for Harvard), you have just as high as chance as any top applicant for the Ivies. Definitely retake either the SAT or ACT, just so you can be as competitive as possible :)

-Harvard SCEA, Yale, UPenn: high reach (but possible!)
-Tufts: low reach
-U of FL: low match
-Duke: low reach
-Emory: high match
-UNC Chapel Hill: mid match

Good luck! :p

Ah, if you get rejected to any of these schools I don’t think it’ll be due to test scores or anything. Even though they’re average for most applicants applying to the schools you’re applying to, I don’t think they’re weighted all that much once you’ve passed a certain threshold. You’re a perfect applicant, but a lot of the schools you’re applying to are crapshoot-ish anyway x_x
