Bottom line: Your SAT and SAT Subject test scores are within Harvard’s range, therefore you are a competitive applicant. Beyond that, no one can tell you with any specificity your chances, especially some poster who proclaims that you have a 50% chance of being accepted to Harvard, or a 65% chance of being accepted to Princeton, or a 90% chance of being admitted to Wharton, etc.
Therefore your essays, teacher recommendations, guidance counselor report (SSR) and interview report will be the determining factor. And we are not the ones reading those elements of your file. You, like every other applicant, just has to send their applications out into the universe and hope for the best.
“Yup I am. But the ;Chance Me; Section exists for a reason, and he posted the same thing 7 times for a reason…”
And the truth of it will be the same all seven times: The poster is one of many who are competitive for seats where there are multiple qualified candidates available for each one. At Harvard this year, 37,000 applied for roughly 2000 admits. You do the math.
But he has elite extracurriculars. And plus I don’t see why I shouldnt “chance” him. Am I qualified to “chance” him? Not really. Will chancing him affect him in any way? Nope. Are my “chances” accurate? Idk I hope so. To be honest, I do it cuz it’s fun… I love hypothetical situations
If you want my honest opinion, your lack of sports and music is disappointing. the charity you set up is amazing though, may I ask what was it for? good job on your school awards, but I definitely wouldn’t put them on my application because they aren’t big enough. You taking the sat french doesn’t count BTW. If your ethnicity is french, it won’t count, though still good job on the 800. I would recommend sat physics if you’re into engineering like your Kuwait award shows.
^ those are just guesses from experience. My brother had just as impressive stats as you, but he also had a 2400 sat, honors band, and marching band section leader. Btw all those schools u mentioned rejected him (except Wharton cuz he didn’t apply)
You don’t think “elite extracurriculars” is what gets folks into Harvard? Don’t recruited athletes’ sports count as “elite extracurriculars”? Granted, athletes must absolutely still be qualified in a slew of other factors, but it’s their talent in their respective sports that is honesty what’s getting those students into the school, so as long as they can manage to meet certain parameters.
Hey, For the lack of sports i think you might have skiped the part where I am the youngest persson to publish in magazines in the entire fitness industry.
I am 90% sure that unless you screw up your senior year or your essays, you will get into Wharton if you apply ED. Take this with a grain of salt, though. :-p
Your ECs are amazing. Congratulations on achieving such things. Interning at a PE fund or an IB is a huge thing for a high schooler, especially one that is the best in your region. Take off the body building part unless you think that it augments your application. You aren’t trying to impress your girl friend here.
Focus on your essays for now. Also, @gibby’s advice is gold. Don’t think that people on an internet forum can accurately chance you. While you do have a good chance, we really can’t say whether you are in the top 10% of the applicant pool or not.
I don’t mean to hijack this thread but I have a question for @gibby who seems very level headed and knowledgeable. I went to one of the Exploring College Options presentations last Sunday where admissions reps from Harvard, Penn, Georgetown, Duke and Stanford spoke. Penn and Duke both indicated that they admitted @ 50% of their class through ED so either implied or were explicit that if you want to go to their schools, you should apply ED. Harvard and Stanford said that there was no advantage to applying EA because they do not admit anywhere close to 50% of their class through ED and specifically don’t want to do that. What is the real story?
Wharton: extremely hard for anyone, but you fit pretty well
Harvard: reach
Princeton: high reach
MIT: high reach- don’t match too well
NYU: you’ll probably get in
Georgetown: maybe
Cornell: probably
Hello! I think you have a great chance at many of the top schools. Your SAT score is pretty good and your Extracurriculars are quite impressive. I think you are a strong candidate at Wharton and Harvard. You seem to be an all right candidate at Princeton. You have a great chance at NYU, Georgetown, and Cornell. I don’t think your skills really match what MIT is looking for, but you still have a pretty impressive resume, so I’d apply and see what happens!
You have awesome ECs and sound like a very interesting person overall which can be good–having that “dazzle” feature. I think you have a good chance at all of these schools but again we can’t guarantee anything. People with your stats have been turned away for people with 1500 SATS. Best of luck!! Oh also could you chance me back?
