chance me for Harvard

So I think by stats are a bit below average but should I still apply? what are my chances??? Harvard has been my dream school since I was young so I really want to give it a try.
GPA: 3.35 UW 3.79 W
SAT: 1720(580R 620M 520W)
AP: Econ 3, Calc BC 3, Lit 2(but not reporting)
senior year course load: AP physics, AP Spanish, AP human geo, AP USH, AP Chem, Band
ECs: member of chess club, business club, model UN etc.
I have pretty good recs and good essays overall
Intended major: Economics
Thank you for chancing me and please be honest!!!

Also my sat II’s: math 2 650, physics 630 and US history 620

These are remarkable stats for a Harvard aspirant. You really should let only Harvard make that determination!

@ItsJustSchool - that’s not helpful.

@puddingman - You are wasting your time applying to Harvard, as both your grades and scores would put you at the absolute bottom of the freshman class - unless you are a recruited athlete (and a really good one at that), there is no chance you will be accepted.

Assuming others besides @BldrDad did not understand my post, let me be more clear.

You have given a very partial picture of who you are as a candidate. The statistics you have posted, you must know, are remarkably below what many Harvard applicants post. You will get nothing but negative feedback or requests for clarification and additional information from College Confidential. If it is your dream, you should apply to Harvard. Present yourself as the full person you are (much more than scores).

You have a story. It is up to you to determine if you can keep up with others who scored much higher (there is a story to that), and whether Harvard should “bet” on you, given there is so much demand to attend Harvard.

Posting on CC is unlikely to be helpful to you since your case must be more complex and nuanced if you aspire to Harvard.

You should really make your case to Harvard. This is between you, your story, and the school. You should not rely on the advice of members of this board. You really should let only Harvard make that determination!

OP reports very different scores here: <a href=“1480/1600 SAT for Cornell? - Cornell University - College Confidential Forums”>http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/cornell-university/1700738-1480-1600-sat-for-cornell.html</a> I’m not sure if this post is a joke or not, but I wouldn’t invest any more time in it.

@‌ItsJustSchool - Your “remarkable stats” comment made me assume you were being sarcastic.

@WasatchWrite - good advice. I think I’ve invested more than enough time on this thread!

@WasatchWriter‌ that was my brother he has better test scores but he wants to go to cornell

@BldrDad‌ I am african american so does that help?

Frankly, your chances are very, very low.

@sherpa‌ i know i have a low chance but should i still try?

No, spend your time more productively. Even with URM status I don’t think you have a chance and that is because likely no one with your stats have probably ever been accepted. Put your more realistic applications in first and spend the time to get them done well. There are a great deal of very good colleges you could choose if you would get real and have reaches that are do-able, sure you can probably reach a little higher than is obvious. Then when all is done put one in if you must.

Please note it is not allowed to share accounts here. As you see it causes confusion and for you not to be taken seriously. Make your own account.

@puddingman - I agree with Brownparent, Most likely you’d be wasting your time.

@puddingman trust me you aren’t wasting your time. Everyone has a chance
You have to go for what you want and have faith and confidence
I am sure that you won’t be let down
Try your best and in the end, whether you get in or not, you would have had an unforgettable experience
So go for it and don’t let anyone stand in your way!

@LiaMD24 - not everyone has a chance! No one - and I mean no one - is getting in with those stats unless they are a star athlete or a development case.

Honestly, I don’t think it’s a waste of time considering we all have some time to spare. I mean, we are teenagers, for most of us, if we just cut back on time we spend on our phones we would be way more productive. If you’re really really busy and the only way you can finish your application is by cutting back your sleep time, I would still do it because we’re really young and being a little sleep deprived will not kill us lol. Plus, nobody REALLY knows if you’ll get in, and even if you don’t get in at least you won’t regret it when you’re older. I just know that I’ve talked to a lot of people that regret not applying to all of the colleges they wanted to because they didn’t think they would get in. As long as spending some extra money on the application fee isn’t going to have a major affect on you, I say apply and try your best
This is just my personal opinion…
Anyway, good luck!

Harvard rejects 95% of applicants. What do those applicants look like? C’mon guys – you’re aspiring for Harvard. Put on your thinking caps.

While the OP has a likely solid collegiate career ahead of him, a 3.35GPA and a 1750 SAT are several standard deviations off of the norm. I don’t think the MOST desired athlete recruit by Harvard could be admitted with those stats.

I calculated that your Academic Index score was 190 out of a possible 240. Your rank score was 2 out of 9 . Most competitive applicants will be at least a 7 if unhooked.
