Chance me for Harvard

Here's the thing, I never ever thought of myself as a good enough student for an Ivy league and definitely not Harvard. I am applying to schools like BU, BC, UPitt. But everyone I know is applying to an Ivy, so I am just going to try for the heck of it. Please be honest with you evaluation, I won't feel bad.

I have 2 great recs coming from teachers

My essay is great- about going to Africa, seeing poverty first-hand, how it changed my perspective, and how The Heart of Darkness relates.

Again, I'm just applying so I know i tried.

I know many will say I barley have a chance, so can you recommend a really good college I have reasonable chances at.

Thanks

Your credentials are good enough to get you in. However, I think there is a lack of leadership in your ECs. Harvard is obviously not a safe bet for anyone, but I don't think you should write yourself off.
Have you thought about UPenn, U. Chicago, Northwestern, etc.? Are you looking for more universities or liberal arts colleges?
If liberal arts colleges, I know Swarthmore and Williams have excellent science programs. Good luck!

Wow really? I didn't think I had the stats because almost everyone applying has a perfect 4.0. I have taken the hardest courses offered ever year, but it still seems like there are less APs; of course because my school only has 5!

Leadership: Should I have been president for more clubs? I tried to have leadership by being VP, but I guess that was the only time.

I was going more for universities since I want to do a more science related major.

My essay is great- about going to Africa, seeing poverty first-hand, how it changed my perspective, and how The Heart of Darkness relates.

That is one of the most overdone topics possible. I strongly advise you to reconsider.

Really? I didn't think many people went to third-world countries instead of going to the Caribbean and places similar. I though a overdone topic would be a little something that happened in my life, and, how it makes me want to goto (pt college name here).

... WOW. You MUST be REALLY old, lol

^ lol you know what I meant

Any other evaluations?

If you weren't asian, you would probably be in. But then again, you are asian, so I have no idea.

I hate that. I am far from the typical Asian, and their standards. Now I have to compete with people who get 2400s and 4.0s. My parent's nationality is Africa, but we are Indian. We are unique, because there are a lot of families that have been in both Africa and Asia.Does anyone have an idea?

Your GPA is low but you still have an excellent chance since the other aspects of your application are actually quite on par with ivy applicants. AA will help a lot too. While the GPA does hurt, your rank shows that that GPA is more meaningful (top 7% w/ a 3.4 means more than top 50% w/a 3.4) and so I'd say u have a chance at some ivies/top schools

Help me, I have only gotten 2 real evaluations. Please evaluate.

bump, chance for Harvard, Upenn? Is it worth it?

Harvard: you do stand a chance, but I don't think you'll get in
Penn: Ok chance, will probably end up on the waiting list. But it could go either way, they may accept you or even reject you. Definitely worth applying, and a much better shot here than at Harvard.
The other Ivies:
Yale/Princeton: very low chance, same as Harvard
Columbia/Brown: same as Penn, although I think Brown will accept you
Dartmouth: decent shot
Cornell: very good chances

You'll get into your all your safeties + BU and all...UChicago, Northwestern and similar schools are matches and will in all probability accept you

UChicago.. a match??!?

Anyways, your SATs are so good that I think Harvard might consider you, and also since you're a URM (I mailed admissions and they judge you by where you live, not from what country you are.)

any others?

I am sorry about the misunderstanding, I am not an International student. I was born here.

bump please, can anyone give me percent chances?

bump again, need the cold truth, do I stand a chance?

your gpa is just too low to get into harvard

the only ivy league that you stand a reasonble chance at is cornell

but if you want to apply to harvard, go ahead, maybe this kenya thing will help you out more than i think

Does anyone else think my GPA is too low. Surely a non-4.0 SAT doesn't kill my chances does it?
