Hi, I'm a sophomore in high school and I'd really appreciate if someone could give me an honest answer as to whether I'm capable of being accepted by the most selective colleges in the country. Here are my stats:

-May apply for Columbia University Science Honors program

Thanks so much!

if you chance, i’ll chance you back!

I think what you need is the hook when I look at all people accepted into Harvard they all have great stats but what separates them is community service. Since you’re a sophomore its good you brought this up now. You need to start a volunteer project of your own, or start several fundraisers, direct Extracurricular Activities to correlate with your interests. You need more of that wow factor outside of standardized test scores, the research aspect however is a good start

Well you definitely have the stats if you keep your grades up! I would start focusing on one important service project and/or EC and be passionate about it. If you can do that, I’d say you have a much larger chance than most.

Good luck!

thank you!!

too early to know

This is excellent advice!

I encourage you to really stick with a certain interest or passion from now until you graduate from HS. Honestly, if you keep your grades where they’re at, you already are academically qualified. Your music background is interesting; cultivate it and do something spectacular that will catch somebody’s eye. Best wishes :)
