Hello, I'm a prospective international student looking to apply to the following three schools in Hong Kong - HKU, HKUST and CUHK, HKU and HKUST as an environmental engineering major and CUHK as an environmental science major. I'm interested in taking my studies further to encompass environmental economics or environmental law in the future, or possibly working as an engineer.

I've lived in China and especially in Hong Kong for quite a while but am now living in southeast Asia. 17 year old Asian girl by the way, if you couldn't tell, but not a Chinese nor Hong Kong national.

My stats are as follows:
SAT - 2210 highest single sitting (720 cr, 690 m, 800 w) and 2300 superscored (720 cr, 780 m, 800 w)
SAT2s - Math 2 680, Physics 660 (Didn't revise so will be retaking in November, I know it looks completely useless to submit, so I won't be submitting)

Level 6 HSK obtained June of 2012.

iGCSEs - 4 a*s, rest as and a couple bs I believe. I do have a C though in First Language Chinese which hurts /:

IB - HLs are Math, Physics and English with a 6/766. SLs are Chem, Chinese B and Econ with a 577 I believe... with the two bonus points that will be around 38 (at the least) to 40. I'll be trying my best to secure a 40, but I don't think the Chem grade will be any higher, although I'll be damned if I don't try to raise that too.

My personal statement will discuss my major choice in detail and my personality (I'll actually be recycling my UCAS personal statement), and the teacher recommendation will be great as far as I can glean right now. The rec will be from my current physics teacher.

I do have a fair list of extracurriculars, ranging from school yearbook sub editor to MUN newsletter editor in chief, vice president of environment group which raised around $1000, form representative, various swimming achievements, other sports commitments and so on. I can provide a more detailed list if desired.

I'm mainly concerned about the IB grades and the SAT 2 grades in particular, especially the 5 in SL Chem...will this hurt my chances greatly? How do I stack up as an engineering/BSc candidate? I remember last year when the dean of international admissions from HKU visited a couple people applied and got accepted with 800/800/800 SAT 2s, and also the mechanical engineering professor from HKU telling me that the average IB composite score was around 36 for his students. These unis are quite probably the ones I'll actually end up attending so...it's crucial that I present myself in the strongest light possible.

Please feel free to comment, anything is appreciated, thank you so much for your input!
