All of those schools are extremely difficult even with the top grades and ec’s.

I think your application has something almost all applicants do not have. That’s something you have to emphasize. Not just emphasize, but rather highlight, underline, circle, etc.

I find your grades and course rigor among the average of all HYPS applicants. But it’s your story that will change everything I truly believe.

Without a doubt, your essays will matter the most, especially for HYPS. Good luck on your essays, and keep up with your researches/lectures.

First of all, thanks for replying to my thread earlier, and I think you have great chances of going to the big schools. Your grades seem good, but I think its your EC’s that make you stand out. I mean holy crap, you’re publishing a paper, given lectures at Harvard, and have 1500+ hours of lab experience? If I was one of those people at Harvard, I would accept you in a heartbeat.
It seems like you have overcome some huge obstacles, and those can also make great college essays. Good luck :)

Thanks everybody! It seems like it really will come down to my essays.

Is this a joke? If not you are in anywhere. How is it that you’re already a world renowned researcher but got a 33 on the ACT with 31 in Science? This doesn’t really make sense to me, but you’re in anyway.

I took the SATs thinking i could do better and got a 2190 back in October so I’m not goin to send it. I took the ACT about 2 years ago so I’ll retake it in September.

You do need SAT IIs.

Took them this morning!

Your grades are good, but your extracurricular activities are extraordinary. The schools have sympathy for determined lower-income students.

Holy crap. Your grades may be a bit below par for HYPSM, but really, your ECs are so amazing that you more than make up for it. And against that much hardship. Wow. I think you have an extraordinary chance at all five, really.

Wow those are really strong ecs…
and I think you will make probably one of those schools

Thank you everybody!

I’d really like to give you an opinion that’s new and worthwhile, but I honestly can’t. I’m not at all familiar with what most applicants that get accepted to top-tier schools are like, but from the looks of it, you fit the image quite nicely.

You have, from what I can observe, really impressive EC’s, and honestly have no idea how you have such time to invest yourself in all these different activities.

But in all honesty, none of this is really anything new in terms of info.

Maybe try taking the SAT I and seeing how you fair? I also don’t see why you haven’t included any SAT II scores - that is - unless you’ve never taken one case, in which case I’d recommend you take basic ones that are required of most good schools (Math II for instance). But seeing as how you seem to know your way in and out through the college applications process, I assume this isn’t the issue.

Overall, nice. Way to make others feel like a turd (don’t take this personally; just a bit jealous is all).

Your extracurricular activities are unbelievable.
I think that Ivy League colleges would take someone with your EC’s and a lower SAT/GPA than someone with a 4.9 GPA and a 2300 SAT but with fairly average EC’s.

Your ECs are great, but your scores are a little low. Try to raise them and you have a great shot.

Your gpa is a bit low for those schools, but your ECs definitely make up for them. Just make sure to write decent essays and you should definitely get into all of them.

Chance me please?

you sound almost too good to be true. There is no way Harvard wouldn’t accept you.

Man… some of you guys are whack. I understand, there’s a lot of reasons to be envious of this kid, but you guys don’t need to disparage him just because he has better ecs than you. @Butters1, I wish I could do half the stuff you have. I think that you have a GREAT shot at HYPSM. You have a lot about you that stands out from other applicants. yeah, it’s a crapshoot, but it’s 50/50. it can turn out to be great, or it can turn out in rejection. just remember that there are plenty of other top schools that you will DEFINITELY be accepted into. Such as middlebury, dartmouth, bowdoin, cornell, brown. You got this!!! good luck!!!

You match the credentials needed to get in and you certainly (appear) to deserve it. If you fall short at Harvard, don’t fret because the others will pick you up.

I would lay down my whole bankroll at 1:1 odds that you will see 100% acceptances. Good luck in life.
