Our school doesn’t have science Olympiad or any academic clubs other than AC Dec but I cant do because I have tennis during that period. I have universities by me but none of them were willing to allow me to do physics research. Tennis takes up a significant portion of my time so I cant join many clubs so anything I do I have to do in the summer

I can write essays pretty well and my Teacher recs should be good.

I really don’t know what else to put so just tell me if you need more. Thx

Probably a match for Berkeley and high match for Rice. Not sure about MIT and Stanford. Probably a good idea to apply to those schools, including some Ivies. Would also apply to a couple of schools about the Berkeley level. UCLA would be a good safe if you are in CA. Good ECs and SAT IIs.

You might check out “For love of ACT Science” and various short videos on test taking for ACT Science. There are test taking approaches for that section.

@sattut thanks for the input. On the last ACT I got a 35 on science by reading scores were way too low so I decide to study more on that for the next one but I neglected my studies on the science. It sucks because I want to be a physics major too. I live in Texas btw

Are you recruitable for tennis? I would check that out.

Also, Berkeley is a UC. The UC’s are state funded schools that do not give financial aid to any non-residents. $60K per year.
The also cannot admit on the basis of race; it’s illegal in the California public schools.

Berkeley is probably a match to high match for admission, but there is no out of state financial aid unless you get a Regents scholarship. This scholarship should be considered a high reach.

The others are generally considered reaches for everyone.

Your URM hook helps but your test scores are pretty low. I could see you getting into maybe one or two Ivies. I would try contacting coaches to see if there is any possibility for supporting your application as a walk on.

You probably would have heard from coaches if they were interested, but LACs generally play Division 3, so there is a lower standard, and their coaches might be interested.

@doorrealthe @sattut yeah I’m unfortunately not too god as good at tennis and I don’t think I can play D3 tennis. I haven’t been able to play outside tennis as much this year because of academic commitments so I’m really low on tennis rankings. I don’t think Tennis is gonna help me.

Solid H.S. record. You will have many options. Tough to say who gets into HYPMS; it’s worth a shot. You could be competitive for Rice, Cornell, Cal…Give each a shot too, but - as with everyone - be sure to apply to at least one safety school. Best of luck.

@glido thanks for the input!
