Hooks: low income, TASP?, girl in STEM

Im applying as a CS and Philosophy major.

TASP is definitely a notable achievement which will make schools give you another look. overall very strong profile. i say you have a good chance at the schools you listed, though all of them are still reaches (jhu should be a low reach). good luck and chance me back!

I would’ve said your app comes off as relatively unexceptional until I read you did TASP. Matching is rather difficult, so I’m not too sure about those schools, but you’re still a viable applicant. I think JHU is an easy acceptance though.

bump

All of these schools are reaches but you have a pretty competitive profile. I could see you getting into a few Ivies

Make sure you use your essays to say why attending TASP was significant for you. I’m sure you are skilled at writing essays, since I believe that’s the main selection criteria for TASP.

TASP will undoubtably help. And yes, do talk about what you got out of the experience.

I’m doing a combination of Computer science and humanities, so a lot of my essays focus on how tasp made me more passionate about the humanities and how i want to combine the two. do you think that’s a good path?

@LoveTheBard @Ynotgo

@collegedream101 - Yes, that sounds like a good approach. Were you going to talk about it in the Common App essay or in the supplements?

Great work!I would say that you have a good chance for getting into at least one of them. However, all those schools are reaches for everyone, please also consider some other options just in case…

@LoveTheBard I focused on them in my supplements!

@kcasssuu of course, I do have match/safety schools. I just didn’t list them here haha

@collegedream101 - good plan. There’s so much to talk about with respect to TASP (the intellectual piece, diversity, community, self-governance, etc. etc., – it lends itself to answering a number of different prompts). That said, you probably only want to talk about it in one place and showcase some other activities and experiences elsewhere.

@LoveTheBard yes that’s why I didn’t talk about it on my common app essay, so I could talk about it in my supplements
