School I'm applying to:

UC Berkeley
UCSD
UCLA
SDSU
University of Chicago
Brown
Cornell
Columbia
Stanford
Harvard
Yale
Princeton

I know I'm not a very strong candidate for the Ivy league schools I'm applying to, but I'm just kind of applying hoping I'll get into one. And I'm applying to HYP because everyone in my school is haha. I just want to see if there's no point at all in applying to the Ivies or if I have the slightest chance. And can you chance me for the other schools on my list as well?

Take the ACT’s. Your superior reading skills may minimize you weaker math area in Composite Score.

Oh there’s one thing I forgot to mention, my intended major is Political Science with a minor in International Relations, so that’s why all of my extracurriculars and clubs are related to that.

And thanks a lot for the tip csdad! Yeah the ACT sounds like a good idea

you have a very good chance you look like a top student chance me/:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/college-admissions/1183277-chance-me.html

You will need to raise your math SAT or do well on the ACT. Are you recruitable for swimming?

No I’m not recruitable for swimming. I dont plan to continue it in college either

Overall this looks pretty good. One thing that helps is that most of your extracurriculars demonstrate that you really have a passion for Polisci/IR. Also, I agree that you should maybe give the ACT a shot, along with retaking the SAT. If you do well on both, it can only help you. Also, unless the school requires you to send ALL test scores, you can avoid sending the USH subject score; most top schools require just 2 of your choice, if any at all.

Apart from the scores, your application is quite strong. The above is absolutely excellent advice.

Improve the testing a bit and you’ll be in great shape. Good luck!

Thanks a lot for the advise! Yeah I’m definitely going to retake the SAT, and I guess I better start studying for the ACT. I’ve been trying to show a consistent trend with my extracurriculars to show that I’m really interested in poli sci.

Anyone else have any suggestions or ideas about my chances?

Oh and I’m a middle eastern female if that helps at all. I know middle eastern goes under the race White so i don’t think that’s really a positive or a negative.

Your ECs are average for the reaches: Ivies and Stanford. You will probably be fine for all the UC schools. Chicago could go either way, but I’d bet a yes if those math scores improve to 700, or the ACT equivalent.

I think you could add a few matches… eg : Vanderbilt/Emory/Boston College/BU etc to your list

Looks like you’ll be a great addition to any school you apply to! It’s still a game of luck though

Thanks so much for all the advise! Yeah I’m really hoping to improve my math score, i’ve just never really been good at math
And I’ve been looking to add a few more matches, but I just figured that if I don’t get into any of my reaches I’ll go to UCSD, or UC Berkeley if I get in. I love both those schools.

Does anyone else have any opinions? Oh and thanks a lot EsotericalApp you’re really encouraging!

Honestly, you would do so much better on the ACT. You’d be surprised how much your score can skyrocket with your strength in English. With that, your 32-34 on it would help significantly. I’d submit both the SAT and ACT scores.

EC-wise, you’re in good shape.

The only bad thing I can see about this is your lack of a hook, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing… your UW GPA balances anything that isn’t top notch.

Cornell (possible match), UC’s (match), Brown (possible match), Chicago (safer reach), Columbia (reach), HYP (reaches). However, nothing is too out of reach, and some good essays good definitely get you in. :)

Thanks a lot, that’s pretty encouraging. Yeah I’m going to start studying for the ACT, I’m just not very good in science. Anyone else?

You are definitely desirable and Ivies and Stanford, as previously stated, have a large amount of luck involved. Retaking the SAT/ACT should definitely be a top priority. Try to get a little more involved within which higher tier school you really want to go to and why exactly. Describing those things in essays and interviews if you get them can be influential

chance me?

your test scores need to be brought up. i suggest at least a 2250 on the SAT I. but ur ACT score would work too. other than that everything else looks good.

Thanks for the advise! Yeah I’ve officially decided to take the ACT instead of retaking the SAT, because I doubt I can bring my SAT score up a lot. Does anyone else have opions or advise?
