“My philosophy with the Ivy Leagues is just to apply to ALL of them. With your record you are bound to get into a least one of them, and if you improve your SAT a little bit it will increase your chances a little bit more.”

Sorry, but this is just terrible advice. The Ivies are all very different. Applying simply because they’re Ivies is pretty shallow. Apply to schools that fit you, not the most prestigious schools just because of their prestige. Contrary to popular belief, apply to a ton of reach schools doesn’t increase your chances of getting into them.

As far as actual advice, make sure you have schools that you WANT to attend that aren’t reaches. “Fall back” usually has some negative connotations. Would you really be happy attending those schools? Make sure you have match/safety schools that you love. Also, retaking the SAT and boosting it a few hundred points would help.

I really would be happy with my match/safety schools. Obviously, I have the hope of going to one of the mentioned Ivies, but even with those, I have taken the time to justify them to myself and figure out why I like each one. I totally agree that there’s no reason to apply to random schools because of prestige.

Those are some great APs you took, but what are your scores???

5 Phys, 5 eng, 4 Bio, 4 world, 4 calc, 3 chem
Usually those don’t matter until you get in and are worrying about skipping classes though

If you aren’t black not having a 2200+ is going to hurt you A LOT. I mean a 2070 is just too low for ivies unless you are hooked. That being said, you have good achievements in a lot of other areas so I think you’ll get at least 2 out of the 8.

Yeah, that score has to go up. I’ve been doing some work to study and improve, but we’ll have to see what happens

I guess this post is dead…
