As for all non hooked applicants, once your stats and ECs are within range of the average admit, it will depend on your essays and recs.

Columbia - reach

What do you mean by a hook?

Great stats! I’m guessing you’ll be able to impress many admission advisers. Consider UPenn, it’s a fantastic school so I have heard. Chance back?

Thank you. I will look into U Penn. I will chance you back. Post your stats

I would say that as of now you’re definitely on target. The big unknown for you is SAT/ACT scores, but if you do as well as you’re capable of you should be fine. Chance me back please!

Very good stats. You just need to back all of it up with a great application and then your chances will be pretty high. Best of luck

^^ What do you all mean “great stats” and “very good stats”? The kid just started sophomore year, he/she has little to no “stats” yet. Even if he/she graduated #1 in his/her school, many of the top Ivies reject between 8-9/10 valedictorians. EC’s are okay so far but by senior year hopefully there will be some sort of passion evident. Otherwise, it’ll look as though the OP joined a lot of clubs just to look good on college applications - that is not how it works these days.

Try to do something that sets you apart…some sort of big volunteer project or something. You have plenty of time to do that.

You’re on the right track for sure, but it’s difficult to “chance” you when you’re only a sophomore.

Chance back: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1553452-chance-low-act-excellent-ecs-kid-will-chance-back.html

Thanks for the advice guys! I’ll try to really focus on my love of debate and public speaking , and try to partake in a service project.
