I envy your ACT score! Your rank is on the lower side, even though your GPA is strong. Being from a small town won’t hurt you, but what is your intended major? I’m getting conflicting messages from your debate experience, band participation & clinic/hospital work. Having essays varied in content is not at all bad, but I’d think about how you want to present yourself to ivies a bit more. What’s your main passion? Go from there!
Best of luck! Chance me back?
oops, i should’ve added that
It’s biology
Okay! I’d emphasize your clinic work then. Hospital volunteering is good for bio applicants but still very common. I’m thinking I can see your application boding well with Cornell, though I’m not sure which ivies you have in mind. Any other schools besides them you’re thinking of? If you could look at mine when you get a chance, that’d be great.
How is a 10/284 rank low… that’s top 3.5%.
@AznDude525 Maybe it’s just at my school, but I’m under the impression that Ivies strongly favor the very top, maybe top 1-2%, especially at small(er) schools. My school is about the same size and I think that outside of the top 5 (top 2%) makes getting into schools like HYP more difficult. That could just be my experience, though?
Overall your stats look good- though as stated by others your rank is on the lower side for HYPSM schools. You’ve got some good ECs but your essays are quite all over the place in terms of your interests- probably would’ve been better to stick to a main foucs. Chance me back if you get the chance? i tried to write about my 3 main interests, biology music and speaking. It is kind of spread out but hopefully colleges understand thats all i do. Thanks for the comments everyone <3
Ivies usually take top 10%-15% at my school… (from our admission data, and we dont rank)
