What do you think I need to do more in senior year? My dream school is Princeton.

I am not an admissions officer at P but if I were, I would probably accept you. I say ‘probably’ because your stats and EC look good. I would think your recs and essays will have much weight in terms of ‘differentiating’ you from the other hundreds of Asians applying to P with similar high stats and ECs. Will these recs and essays give me a feel for what your personality is really like or will they be the standard ‘Jonny is a hard worker who excels in the classroom’.

What I would recommend for this next year is to focus on what makes you special? Why would I, as the Director of Admissions at Princeton want to have you on my campus instead of Jackie Choo, Mr. Miagi, Michelle Wai, Ho Chi Mai, or Pol Smoke Pot, who all have great stats and ECs just like you?

And always remember the infamous words of Mr. Miagi from Karate Kid I: " Daniel-san, best way block, no be there!"

One specific piece of advice: Take a 4th year of Spanish if you can; the variety of languages is interesting, but having depth in one language will help.
