The worst thing about me ... I suck at AP testing. I know the material, I just don't test well for these exams. I feel like a lot of other things I'm ok with, but my AP scores are mediocre at best.

Ethnicity: Asian female :/

Solid shot everywhere, you’re definitely a competitive candidate. Ethnicity? That’s important.

Chance me back?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1042949-chances-ivy-top-universities.html

Yeah … I’m asian  Thanks for your feedback!

What year did you go for GHP and what were your major/minors?

Music and Soc Stud … but can you please chance me?

Your clubs seem a little laundry list like, and there isn’t anything truly outstanding that I see. Yale is probably a reach for you, I’m not going to generically chance you for all of the ivies though.

CS and SAT are pretty good.
Transcript is top.
EC seems more quantity than quality; but I don’t know the extend so I could be wrong.
Awards are pretty good.

I like your chances.

On a side note, I had a friend who applied to a few Ivies and sent in a copy of her Prism performance. I know you’ve sent your music compositions so no biggie.

Good luck

Thanks - yeah, I know I have a lot, but most of them I’ve been doing since freshman year or whenever I was inducted and am invested in 90% of the clubs still

Anybody else? :/

SAT 1 score is pretty decent for any Ivy. SAT IIs aren’t bad either (800 BUM-DEE-BUM)
Yale - 70% Yes
UPenn - 80% Yes
Harvard - IDK
Princeton - 70% Yes
Cornell - 80% Yes

Thanks for your feedback! It really helps!

Sorry, but the percentages given in the above post are nothing short of crazy. You would not have a 70% chance at Yale or Princeton if you were Exeter’s valedictorian and had a 2400. Such posts are truly unhelpful.

^Agreed. OP is definitely a competitive applicant, but not to the degree implied by collegebored11.

Ah. Ok. Well, I appreciate any sort of feedback, positive or negative, that can help me look at the situation realistically. Thank you for taking the time to do so! :)

what you wrote is excellent, academically, but thats not everything. You need to provide family backgrounds as well. If your parents/guidance earn millions of dollars per year, in that case, you will be competing against the top 1% pool of the Asian group, and i dnt think your stats stands out at all. If your parents/guidance make 20k per year, and you come from a really unique background, then u definitely have a chance–>however, all that depends on how u phrase your essays.

Thanks! But, schools don’t ask how much my parents make per year - and my essays are creative essays that don’t mention my family background other than that I am asian. I am from a lower middle class, but I think my location and address will clear up my statuts.

what are your AP scores?

mostly 4’s  - I don’t know why I do so badly on these tests; I know the material; I actually loved most of my AP classes - they were all really interesting and so informative … I just can’t seem to score higher.

You certainly have the academics and test scores, save for AP scores (btw, your scores aren’t really that bad imo), and some impressive ECs/awards. Be careful with how you frame your app, just so colleges don’t think you’re padding your resume or spreading yourself way too thin (personally, I believe that you are dedicated to all of those activities-just make sure the adcoms do as well!). You have a shot at any Ivy, or uber-selective school for that matter, but your essays need to be eye-catching; make your app memorable! Good luck :)

Please chance back ;)

Thank you! And yes, I am writing (hopefully) interesting essays that I think that readers will find eye-catching. And I will take everything you said into consideration while applying!
