You should take a test if you haven’t. If you took it and don’t like your score, ok. But if you haven’t, take it - if you can get a 30, etc. it can help.

UVA - no chance

Va Tech - reach

JMU - 60/40 so likely, but not definitely.

You should add schools like Christopher Newport (very good) and Radford.

You may want to look at the Common Data Set for each of the targeted schools; the CDS provides information about matriculating students for a given academic year. Sections C7 tells you what academic and non-academic admission criteria are used for each school and how each school weights those factors; Sections C9-C11 gives you statistical information regarding GPAs and test scores. The CDS can give you a means to compare your own statistics, broadly, to matriculated students at each university; and whether your strengths relate to important or very important admissions factors at each school.

If you are open to a small women’s university consider Hollins.

VCU would be likely/safety for you too.

I took the act a few months ago and definitely didn’t do so hot. I was in the high 10’s lol. Thank you for the response!

Will do😁

I will definitely look over there!

It’s fine. There’s a college out there for you.

Look at the CDS but I looked at stats. You can get a great education anywhere. You might look at other schools such as Longwood or if out of state ETSU etc

I sure do hope so, if not, I’ll most likely think about going to a community college and then transfusing to George Mason since they have a pretty good PolySci department! Thank you again:)!

No reason you can’t get a four year experience!! If you want to go away to a school and live in a dorm, there is a school out there for you - such as Radford, VCU, UV Wise, Mason, JMU, Mary Washington, , Longwood, etc.

There’s also out of state schools and even private schools depending on your budget.

No need to give up your four year dream. You’re a good candidate - you just put forth some in demand programs.

Aweeee this made me have the biggest smile on my face for some odd reason haha. Thank you, I’ll definitely try and apply to more schools to broaden my options. I appreciate all the responses :))

What is your financial situation? What can your family afford? Are you open to out of state? Are you open to private?

I assume you like mid-large - so like UVA/JMU - well tech is really big.

You asked to chance me - but don’t sell yourself short. I can think of tons of schools that will want you.

So what’s your budget. What’s your geographic limitation?

Financially we are comfortable, I believe my parents make around 120,000 (not exactly a set number). I also have a job. My parents have agreed to pay half of the tuition and I’ll pay the other half.
I definitely love larger school instead of smaller. Not too enthusiastic about out of state schools since the tuition does double or even triple sometimes. I’m also open to private colleges as well!

Budget wise, so far I don’t really have a budget but not more than 30,000 per year probably. I don’t want to be too far from home, the max about 6-8 hours preferably. Thank you for taking the time out of your day to write this!

You would get merit at schools like Alabama - maybe a bit far but a huge out of state. Or UTK. You might look at WVU - where you’ll get merit as well. Look to College of Charleston and U of SC to. But VA has so many great state schools try them as well.

Private colleges will be tough if you don’t have need but try a Randolph Macon (prob too small) - well I’ll have to think about large private within 4-5 hours - maybe High Point. I think Elon is a stretch. Even a school like East Carolina is a school that could likely work for you.

Lots out there - except for the 4-5 hours of home

But you’ll get into a lot of state flagships - hence UTK

Thank you for the suggestions! I’ll definitely look into them. UTK is probably one of the better schools I would count as an option in my college list! Love the location and their programs are pretty strong as well. Alabama state is also pretty great as well!

I’ll be definitely growing my list over the next few months. Thanks for letting me know some of the different school here. I’m trying to go away from home but not too far so these schools listed in your comment would be perfect.

U of Alabama. Not al state. Try auburn too. Alabama state is an Hbcu

My D22 and I went to walk around the VCU Monroe Park campus and we really liked it. We weren’t able to go inside any of the buildings due to COVID, but Richmond and the Fan District seemed really cool. Definitely worth a look and you might get some merit scholarships there. I don’t know anything about their Poli Sci dept. VCU is definitely on my D22’s list.

Sorry for the typo, I was thinking about multiple schools at the time I was writing that, definitely will check our Auburn as well!
