I’m also an immigrant from Nigeria and will be the first in my family to attend college in the US… does that count as First Generation?

^Anyone? Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Your coursework and GPA seem very good and strong. What’s holding you back possibly are your extracurriculars and awards which seem a bit shallow and spread out. I hope you don’t plan to declare them all. Focus on the big ones that matter. The fact that you are an African American and first generation do help though.

One question, are you a US citizen or international? International students have a much more difficult time getting in to unversities and also recieve less financial aid.
JHU- reach
NYU- match
WUSTL- reach/ did you visit? I heard they’re partial to those who visit their campus.

Just make sure you write good essays and get good rec letters and you should have a decent shot!

^Yeah on the common app it only let’s you choose like 10 awards/extracurriculars. I will only include the ones that matter. I live in the US so financial aid isn’t too much of a problem, I guess.

JHU: low reach
NYU: match
WUSTL: low reach

You have surely achieved a lot. Your courseload is very rigorous, and you have nice ECs. Write brilliant essays, and I think you can aim even higher.(e.g.a low Ivy like Cornell, Brown,UPenn).

Chance back?http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1575443-chance-me-my-ed-ea-hyp-mit-please-will-chance-back.html

Thanks! I’ll work on those essays!
