Hooks: URM, NYC metro area,

Your scores are definitely low for Hopkins. Your hooks and relatively unique ECs may help you overcome the hump but Hopkins is definitely a reach for you.

You have OK ECs but your lack of state level or national level awards keeps you from standing out.Your numbers honestly kill your chances. 1200 SAT? Are you serious? Your 3.7 GPA is OK for the school but you also haven’t even taken any rigorous classes(AP classes) and from what I remember, shop classes are generally pretty easy to get an A.

I’d say your chances are pretty “meh” but since you’re an URM you might have a chance

@vrhou98 It’s not that I didn’t choose to take AP classes, it’s just your shop is limited to AP classes. My school doesn’t even have AP Biology or AP Chemistry. The few that people in my shop take is AP Spanish (you need 4 years in Spanish or be native to Spanish), AP Lit (English is my weakest subject, but I’m taking honors English), AP Calc AB (I was on track to take this class when I was in 8th grade, but I didn’t pass the placement test, but I’m in Pre Calc honors. My school does offer SUPA Biology, but that doesn’t compare to AP Biology and the class is $600, so I didn’t take it.

Yea, I agree @saif235

You have a chance because of your hooks and although your GPA is low for the school, your rank if fine. They would prefer top 10, but as I said, maybe because of your hooks they’ll overlook it. However, I wouldn’t say chances are very strong. You have to realize there are much stronger applicants that also have your hooks.

@justliviglife agreed, thanks for the comments

No problem! Good luck and know you can succeed anywhere you go!
