I am applying as a biology major. I am takin AP Biology as a senior right now, and got an A+ first semester. (will colleges see that and recognize it?)

Mid-year grades are important, but they really don’t affect your chances as much as your previous 3 years do. Colleges just want to make sure you aren’t slacking off. Chances: pretty good, but your SAT and SATII scores are weighing you down.

I have a very similar profile (Nearly same Grades, SAT, ECs) and am also applying to JHU RD. SAT II are a bit low though. I think you have a good chance but because Biology at JHU is very competitive to get in, especially RD, it will be hard to predict. Best luck to both of us.

Honestly speaking, it’s pretty dicey if you are shooting for bio, requiring heavily on chemistry. However both of your SAT2 and AP in chem didn’t help you much. Good luck anyway.

(Current student)

@Mamapa2 Hopkins does not practice admission by major (the notable exception being BME). Being accepted for bio is (theoretically) no more competitive than any other major except for BME.

OP you are a competitive applicant. No one on CC can tell you anything conclusively beyond that.

2017 update: I got in! But I will be going to Brown instead

You had (at least…) two outstanding options then. Have a blast! I recommend using the open curriculum to really challenge yourself and seek out classes that will expand your mind and bring breadth to your education.
