I like W&L as a school and think I would be a good fit for the school; however, I am unsure if I could justify going to W&L if my parents had to pay (or even if they would) ~60k a year vs. ~25k at UT for business.

My guess would be that you have a decent shot at getting an invite to Johnson Weekend. A strong Johnson essay should get you there. What you need to do to actually get the scholarship is differentiate yourself from the endless stream of - and I’m sorry if I’m being brutally honest here - white, wealthy, athletic, southern, prospective investment bankers that apply every year (and attend the school).

I have no idea what it takes to get a Johnson Scholarship. I can tell you that my daughter’s GPA, SAT, APs, ECs are very similar to yours. She did not have work experience. She was not invited to Johnson Weekend.

You should definitely apply though, because who knows what the magic formula is. Maybe your essay will tip the scales in your favor. I’ve also heard a theory that Community Service is very important. I don’t know if that is true.

You have a good chance to get invited to the weekend. Great test scores/EC’s. From there, it’s all about the impression you leave on the school, and how well your interview/group session goes. Good luck.
