I also go to one of the top 20 public high schools in NJ and I'm Asian. I'm not sure if that's good or bad at this point but Peddie has this like Asian Studies program. Also, I'm not like a "stereotypical" asian which is what I wrote my essay about ( but i haven't lost my culture and stuff).
My essays are about my eye opening experience at CTY and my culture and not being stereotypical/ being judged often.
I am also applying for finnancial aid/ scholarship but my family is very borderline finnancially so I probably won't get any.

If you do respond, thanks so much! And I can take criticism. I just hope more than one person responds so I don't look like a n00b.

Thanks so much! xoxo

LOL don’t judge me for this but as I read the second line of you Extracurriculars I somehow knew that you are Asian. And there I get an immediate confrontation in the paragraph below it!
You have a good chance. That piano will be a major hook

you’re a girl right? i just saw that “xoxo” as I was about to leave.

HAHA yeahh i am. i’m also applying for 10th grade so its extra hard :/

Snape! You have no freaking clue what a hook is!!! So please, my good sir, SHUT UP! Thank you.

yeah im a bit confused about piano being a hook but no need to get aggressive middleschool.

I just wanted to say GO CTY! I’m applying to Lawrenceville too (but for 9th grade). From what I have been told, the schools are all looking for something different that makes you stand out. Sorry, but piano is not a hook because many students play piano. They also want well rounded students (you seem to be one). Also, one of the admissions directors, who interviewed me, gave me some great advice. He said to be yourself and speak your mind when you write your essays because he said that it is fairly easy to tell if a student simply wrote an essay that they thought the admissions “wanted.” Best of luck with Lawrenceville and Peddie!

thanks for the advice! my tutor also gave me that advice as well because he seems pretty familiar with prep schools. oh btw hes not like a private school tutor hes an english tutor. and good luck with lawrenceville as well!

You might have a great chance in Peddie. You remind yourself just like me! Same grades in school, both live in NJ, Photography, & Student Council VP. (: Go for it!

thankss!
just curious… why not lville?

I heard it was hard to get into, even with good grades. But you might be able to get into L’ville! Take a chance, it won’t hurt to try! (: Good luck!

truee. thankss though!

i visited peddie and my parents hated it so now my only hope is lawrenceville which i probably wont get into. UGH :/

^ why did your parents hate peddie?

our tour guide was wearing like … floral fishnets and they were like :OOOOO and then i guess during the parent interview the interviewer would not answer any of their questions straight up and they were like… ok we’re not paying for a mediocre school. (in their eyes) and they thought the freshman dorms (even though i would enter as a soph) was like a prison cell… which it kinda was. the one we saw was empty and a single and the window was closed. i thought that it was pretty big though going to camp in colleges over the summer.

butthatsjustme.

SSAT scores
math 98%
reading 97%
vocab 94%

:DDDDDDDDDDDDD

great job on your SSATs!
fishnets…big asian parent no-no (no offense)
weird my mom is obsessed with peddie now and she really wants me to go there. Our tour guide was actually amazing - I guess it just depends on who you get, what day, and when. Oh, and haha about the dorms…they were kind of disturbing.
But after college dorms (cty) they seemed pretty good.

thanks beatlesforever i know you did well too right?
well i guess its different for each person. my cty site actually had amazing dorms. they were a bit bland but im sure you can decorate them with fun rugs and stuff:)

whoa that’s so weird, I wrote my essays on the same things! I talked about CTY and being Asian too

anyways, I think you have a good chance for Peddie, but I don’t know about Lawrenceville (I’m applying there too). good luck!
