Chance Me for Listed Schools (I'll Chance Back)

First off I'd like to thank anybody that comments. I really appreciate it. I go to a very competitive high school, one of the best in NC. I’m a rising senior. This is an update on one of my older posts with revamped classes, extracurriculars and SAT scores.

The Classes I Have taken in high school are ....

-Honors English (10th) (A)
-Honors E-Commerce (A)
-Honors Pre-Calculus (B)

My GPA at the end of junior year is a 4.79 (weighted) and a 3.79 un-weighted. My school is very competitive people with high GPA's don't make it into the top 10% of the class (my friend with 4.6 is ranked 75 and our valedictorian from last year had a gpa of 5.3). I'm probably going to end up anywhere from 3-7%. I have 2110 SAT scores.

AP Scores (11th Grade AP’s)
-Bio (5)
-Comparative Gov (5)
-English Language (4)
-Statistics (4)

-Washington University in St. Louis

For duke, if u want to go to the engineering school, u need take SAT II either math I or math II. It’s a requirement.

Yes I know! Actually I just signed up for my SAT II’s in Biology and Math I for October
Thanks for reminding me, I forgot to include that in my summary. :)

JHU- Mid Reach
Duke- Mid Reach
UNC/NC state- IN
UVA-Low Reach
Rice-Low Reach
BU- IN
Ga Tech-?
Wustl- Mid Reach

-Johns Hopkin low to mid reach
-Duke low to mid reach
-UNC mid to high match
-NC State safety
-UVA- high match to mid reach
-Rice- low reach
-Boston University- low match
-Georgia Tech- mid to high match
-Washington University in St. Louis- low to mid reach

definitely apply to all

you need to take SAT 2s

I agree with the aforementioned posts.
Also some advice:
Math 1 is easier(alegbra, geometry, alegbra 2, some trig,) but with a harsher curve
like 1 wrong is a 770
Math 2 is harder(alegbra, geometry, alegbra 2, harder trig, and precalc, and maybe a standard deviation question (stat stuff)) but with a more forgiving curve
9 wrong would be a 770
You have already taken precalc and stat so why not take math2?

It’s worth it to apply to the ones you listed (then again, you’ll rack up app fees) but nonetheless
Duke-Reach
JHU-Reach
GA Tech-Quite a good match for you, fantastic engineering program, not to rip on UNC, but they can’t compare to GA Tech
Rice-Match
WUSTL-Good choice, BME is an ideal program there.Low Reach
BU-In
UVA-In
UNC-In
NC State-In

Isn’t there a stipulation with collegeboard that you can’t test for both AB and BC calc within the same year?

If you can bring your SAT up a little more, I think you should have a little better chance!

Duke- midreach, but is for everyone
JHU- reach but better if youre not going premed
GA Tech- good match!
Rice- low reach, barely reach
WUSTL- good match
BU-match
UVA-reach for everyone out of state
UNC- match, esp in state
NC State- safety

chance me please? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1130954-chance-me-please-junior-top-schools.html</a></p>

Lessons of Vietnam seems like an interesting class lol. best we have is African American and Latin American history

-Johns Hopkin Mid reach
-Duke Mid reach
-UNC In
-NC State In
-UVA- high match to mid reach
-Rice- low reach
-Boston University- low match
-Georgia Tech- Mid match
-Washington University in St. Louis- mid reach

@PleaseRice … Our school allows people to take both … BC being a make-up exam. But I most likely will only take BC

You’re pretty strong and your ec’s show your interests;
John Hopkins-reach
Duke-reach
UNC-in
UVA-low reach
Boston University-match
Georgia tech-(i have no idea)
Washington University in St. Louis-reach
However, I think you will get into at least one of those i put as reaches. Just a feeling, since although you’re not an ultra-competitive applicant, you definitely still have strong ec’s that show what you’re passionate about. good luck!

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/1188763-chance-me-please-terribad-gpa-ok-ish-sat-ecs-will-chance-back.html</a></p>

I tHink duke is a reach and you Hopkins will be a little tough. I would say nc state is safety for you and unc is a low reach all the others you have GOod shots at. Please chance me back thanks

You’re Bs and SATs might hurt you a bit for hopkins and duke. You have a very good shot for the others. Raise your SATs, and I think your chances will go up a lot. Since you’re an asian male, a certain score of around 2250+ is expected of you for top 15 schools (especially if you are unhooked). Try to at least get to 2200+. I think Rice is a good fir though. Chance me back?

I would say that you are going to get into UNC and NC State.

But after that, because you are asian, it is a crapshoot, because there are lots of
asians with the same credentials.

I think it is unfortunate that asians are subjected to reverse discrimination in this manner, but that, unfortunately, seems to be acceptable in today’s society. I have already told my son to hide the fact he is 1/2 jewish, for the same reason. Colleges don’t like “over-represented” minorities.

I have read on CC that it might be helpful if you add some schools where asians are less likely to apply. Not sure where that might be. And add one or two small schools that have good engneering programs.

Duke-Reach
JHU-Reach
GA Tech-Match
Rice-Match
WUSTL-Mid Reach
