Chance me for lower ivies, UC's, Carnegie Mellon, etc.

Yeah so can you guys chance me for the UC Schools(especially Berkeley), Lower iviews(Cornell, Upenn), mcgill, michigan, WashU - St. Louis, and Carnegie Mellon?

I'm just looking for you guys to tell me what my chances are(be honest. If it's 'no', I'd rather hear that then get false hope)

Basically my GPA is a 3.5 because I completely ****ed up freshman year due to problems with depression(and as a result, alcohol). I pulled it together sophmore year and got around a 3.7 for that year. My junior year GPA will probably be a 3.8-3.9.

SAT II(Chem): 770
SAT II(Bio M): 720

If there's any more info needed, let me know. Thanks!

I would say you have good chances for McGill, UMich, and CMU. WashU is a low match. Cornell and UPenn are reaches because they are ivies. UC Berkeley is also a reach since you are OOS. Also, UMich and UC Berkely dont look at freshman grades, so that should not be a problem for you. It is good that your grades improved, since colleges like to see improvement. Good luck.

Please help me out?

I really don’t think WashU is a low match. More like low reach.

to be frank, there are tons of students exactly like you. your gpa is low, and being from the suburbs doesn’t help. SATiis are good and hopefully your SATis will be what you predicted. I don’t see anything special about your ECs.

also, what the hell is a “low ivy”? if you’re going to be using terms like that, i don’t think you should be applying to them. i think you have a shot at the schools you’ve listed, but should set your sights a little lower. maybe pick two and find a couple easier schools to get into. there are plenty of great schools that are easier to get into than the ones that you’ve listed. i don’t mean to discourage you, but i think you should just be more realistic.

I know all this. And by ‘low ivy’ I mean not HYP, which are undoubtedly harder to get into than the rest of the ivies. All these schools are reaches for me. I will definitely be applying to some less selective schools, but I just wanted to see what kind of chance I had for some of the more competitive ones.

And to be honest, I’m really mostly interested in Berkeley as far as reaches go, I’m really interested in their Comp Sci program.

Anyway, thanks for being honest.

ok. well here’s my prediction then:

UC Berkeley - low reach
Cornell - reach
Upenn - high reach
mcgill - match
michigan - high match
WashU - St. Louis - reach
Carnegie Mellon - high match
