I can’t seem to find this in any of OP’s posts.
Or that they’re looking for schools with an over 30% admit rate.
It may be referencing this on the 30% rate portion ???
purpose was to compare “guaranteed admission with BFI marks” in strong academic programs in Canada/Europe vs much less predictable admission process for T20/50 American Schools
So, just a general observation then, and not necessarily relevant to OP since he didn’t say he was applying to any of those countries.
Their suggestion is flawed (to be polite) - at least as far as elite colleges.
Almost all the schools on your list can only accept 1 for every 10 applicants, no matter their grades and stats. So while the “BigFuture” scheme will identify colleges where your grades/stats are in the range of the students that ARE admitted - that is also the range of the 90% of the (equally qualified) students that could not be accommodated.
All of these schools are reaches, no matter how good someone’s stats/grades - and they are “highly unlikely” for anyone below their typical GPA/SAT ranges.
That’s not what this thread is about. Did you confuse it with some other thread?
UNC-CH has an 8%acceptance rate for out of state. Definitely a reach.
UMich - 18%
Emory - 10-13%
Really as others have mentioned all except for UIUC are considered a reach. Doesn’t mean you won’t get in but not a good chance for anyone.
