Chance Me For McCombs?

So the application has already been submitted (and accepted for the UT Austin) so there's nothing I can change about the application, but some reassurance would help ease my anxiety. Or maybe possible tips that might still somehow help me despite that fact?
My plan is to eventually get into the Integrated MPA program at McCombs so of course first getting into McCombs would be ... helpful.

Okay so Stats:
Type of Admission: In-state Freshman
Ethnicity: Asian (Vietnamese)
GPA: 3.67
Class Rank: 33/685 (4.82%)
SAT:
- (02/2011) 1660 (660 M, 510 CR, 490 W)
Retook this today so I guess I'll see if I've improved or not in a few weeks
ACT:
- (04/2011) 29 (Eng/W: 22, Eng: 25, Math: 33, Read: 31, Sci: 26)
- (09/2011) 31 (Eng/W: 25, Eng: 28, Math: 34, Read: 30, Sci: 33)
The thing is with the tests (9/11 ACT and recent SAT to be posted) since they were submitted after I turned in the application do you think it'll still be considered?

Senior Schedule:
Business Marketing and Finance
Independent Studies in Math
Dual Credit English
AP Calculus
Dual Credit (Online) Government & Economics

Total Dual Credit Hours:
[11th] US History, Precalculus, English (Online), [12th] English, Government/Economics
So 30 hours from concurrent enrollment. No AP courses (only pre-ap) other than Calculus.

Extra-Curricular Activities:
[11th and 12th Grade]
- UIL Math Team (Qualified for regional last year individually and as a team)
- National Honor Society (Completed 10 hours last year, planning to do 20 this year)
- [Volunteer] Co-Administrator for online community/project (not sure if this actually counted since it's not school-related, but I listed this on the application anyways)
I know its not much, which I part of why I'm so worried =/.

Other:
Submitted Resume
Submitted Two Letters of Recommendation (Eng Teacher and Math Coach/Sponsor)
I would not consider stating my essays as a plus for my application, so those can't be considered as leverage if my other stats are too low =/

Thanks in advance for your time.
Oh also if anyone has obtained an acceptance/decline or any kind of notice from McCombs, updates would be nice :X I hope we won't really have to wait until February to find out x_x

Props for the awesome formatting.

Some late and useless criticism but you’re obviously better at the ACT. A 31 ACT is about the same as a 2050 SAT so you definitely should have retaken the ACT rather than the SAT. Regardless, I’m not that familiar with the business school so I’ll have to let someone else weigh your chances. Sorry :

Lol thank you frever (for the comment and quick reply)

I had noticed that I was better suited for ACT which was why I only bought a study guide for it as well as paid to retake it. I probably would have taken it one more time had it not been for what I saw (or rather what I did not see) here: [Integrated MPA Admissions | McCombs School of Business | The University of Texas at Austin](http://new.mccombs.utexas.edu/MPA/Integrated-MPA/Admissions.aspx)
The site only has the avg SAT scores so I wasn’t sure if SAT mattered more or what, but I knew my current SAT just would not come even close to cutting it. So since my counselor offered an SAT fee waiver, I just went and retook that =/

And its fine, I appreciated the comments/advice regardless :D

Congrats on the nice improvement on your ACT score! Pending the results of your SAT retake, here are a few data points based on your ACT (together with auto admit status):

Your 31 puts you 4 points ahead of the 2010 mean ACT of 27 (see Table 3, HB 588 auto admits submitting ACT, in the Top 10% report linked below) and in the top estimated 17% of freshmen submitting ACTs (extrapolated from Table 4).

Your 31 puts you 1 point ahead of the 2009 mean for Asian American business admits (see Table 7-ACT). As mean scores seem to be creeping upwards, you are probably at mean.

Also, if you really want to crunch some numbers, you can calculate your Academic Index using rank and ACT/SAT subsection scores (plus the bonus for rigor, which you might get based on 30 hours concurrent college work?). Scroll to last page, footnote 9, for business school model:
http://www.utexas.edu/student/admissions/research/HB588-Report13.pdf

Do you know if MyStatus will affirmatively reflect the fact that your new score reports have arrived? It would be nice to see confirmation that they received and matched to your file your ACT retake and, late Oct/early Nov, your SAT retake. If you can’t see that, is there a general upload tool or “email us” offered? If yes, I might furnish a PDF’d screen shot of your ACT or SAT retake score as it is displayed online. They won’t accept anything but official score reports, but at least it will give you the satisfaction of having given them a heads up that you’re submitting an improved retake.

It’s hard to predict how fast or slow decisions will come out this year under the new “all holistic review” admission scheme. Just a guess, but because McCombs said honors apps submitted by the priority deadline of Oct. 15 will be read first and notified before regular decision, either accepted to BHP or deferred to regular decision, it seems reasonable to conclude that all or the majority of regular decision applicants will not hear any response until after everyone submits by Dec. 1 and the entire RD pool is considered.

Good luck!

Thank you  Although the scores aren’t the best, I really couldn’t help but smile when I saw the math go up a point and science jump up 7 points.

Oh wow, its great to know that I am at least average when it comes to the AI. That definitely eases my mind a great deal.
As for the Business School Model [-.630 + (HSR * .015) + (ACT M * .062) + (ACT EngWrt * .031)], what is HSR? Is that the “[1‐(class rank/class size)]*100” thing?
Also found on that report that those who take both the SAT and ACT have the benefit of the better of either being used (footnote 8). So although a bit of a bummer as I could have just put 100% focus into ACT, its still a relief to know that it works that way now so thank you for that.

I just checked the MyStatus page and yes, they have received the scores. So does that mean that the scores new scores will be taken into consideration or just nothing more than a notice saying that they received it?
I apologize for all these specific & constant questions.

Haha I suppose it is back to waiting then. But wow, a few months … so nerve-wrecking!
Oh also I am attending the Discover UT event come Columbus Day, do you have any recommendations on what to do/where to go while I am there?

HSR is to calculate your high school rank with the formula you listed. And yes, Admissions will use the highest ACT score for your file review. As TXArtemis mentioned, the vast majority of regular admit decisions to McCombs will begin to be made after the December 1 deadline. Also, your review is based not only on the AI but the PAI as well. Look at the grid in the pdf file and you can get a feel for where you may land.

To add: when calculating your AI, you can include the extra .1 to your predicted gpa. You have plenty of classes above the “recommended” program. In fact, most Texas public high school kids have plenty of classes over the “recommended” plan because local school districts require additional credits to graduate.

Oh alright, thank you for the information txex86.
I saw that the PAI was part of the holistic review, but there was no way for me to, even moderately, get a close estimate of my PAI score so I didn’t bother with it.
Well that’s great news that I qualify for the extra .1!
So I guess that puts me at 3.78 with the business model.

Thank you again for all the help frever, TXArtemis and txex86.

Ah sorry for bumping up this thread, but I wanted to ask this for a classmate: Is the admissions process for Cockrell School of Engineering the same as McCombs (in that it waits until the deadline before looking over all applicants and accepting) and do you have a link to where it says that it does/doesn’t on the UT site?

Ah never mind, I found it.

Although if anyone else needs it:
