So for faculty of arts it says the minimum is B+ GPA (whats a b+ gpa? ive read its a 3.3-3.7, is this true?) and 27 ACT.
for faculty of agriculture and environmental studies minimum 26 ACT and B GPA (ive read thats a 3-3.3)
from what ive seen on college confidential everyone has way higher GPAs and ACTs than those minimum reqs… (like 32-35 ACTs and 3.9 above GPAs) so are my chances low? i hope to have a 3.6 GPA by the end of senior year and a 30 ACT.
Arts is relatively easy in comparison to other groups, easier than physical sciences and much easier than Life Science. I’m pretty sure 3.5 puts you at a 85 which would put you at a position of “good chance to be accepted, don’t be surprised if not.” I don’t know about arts but for sciences you cannot have any ACT category below 27 and the overall should be at least 30 or else they wont even consider you. But don’t worry about it too much, here’s a personal anecdote. I had 31 ACT (barely made it past the minimum), 3.85 unweighted (which is not that high) 4.3 weighted (not that high considering im from silicon valley) and really ■■■■■■ SAT and I got into physical science and squeezed into life science as well. So don’t worry! Your course load looks very well adapted to your interest which would be a plus. Just be careful of AP Lit; since McGill looks at 1st semester senior year and AP Lit is the hardest humanities AP, it could be your make or break. Oh and btw Agricultural IS MUCH EASIER than even Arts, you should be fine for that. Here’s a link:https://www.mcgill.ca/applying/admissionsguide/standards/ontario
thanks NorthernKev this was really encouraging! the link you sent me was for admission standards for ontario but i checked out the U.S one and its a little bit below my current standing so thats good i guess. you said you go/went to a really rigorous high school in silicon valley? does a really prestigious high school look god? i am only in the top 50% of my class because its a really rigorous selective enrollment school, top 10 in illinois i think, maybe top 200 in the U.S. and I hope the rigor of my classes shows this… thanks!
