So I wasn’t really sure what kind of things Emory is looking for in their scholars and was curious about my chances of getting one. I am applying for biology if that influences the decision.

@colga09 : Applying for Biology will have no influence, though if you were, for a scholarship, they may expect more engagement with science. The rest of your ECs make you look like a pretty standard Emory applicant (like a well-rounded future pre-med). Admissions, maybe though Emory is not that stats. sensitive. Scholars, wouldn’t bet on it, but anything is possible (Scholars usually have a very interesting story to tell about their academic engagement, started organizations that had/have an impact, etc. They usually are not the students who are standard applicants but scored very high on ACT/SAT and in fact the scholars program will even take intellectually engaged folks who are not perfect academically. The minimum threshold for stats is 'as good as the rest of the student body or slightly better"). They just usually look for less conventional ECs. However, with your involvement in debate, a specialty scholarship is possible (Debate Scholar), but they only offer 1 a year and there are so many more people involved in debate that do very well.
If you are worried about finances, there are more stats sensitive schools who may throw money at you to get your stats. UGA should invite you to honors or even the Foundation Fellows, Tech’s scholarship and programs, you may have a shot. Vanderbilt gives great financial aid and likes very high SAT/ACT scores. WUSTL does as well. Many publics (including very selective ones like Virginia, Michigan, Chapel Hill on top of Tech),I would consider as well.
