Thanks guys

Wow I don’t get why you got deferred form Michigan but hey, I think you have high chance of getting in 2nd round.

NYU - Match

Your stats and ECs are way above average for UMich, and it has a high acceptance rate, so what else could have gotten you deferred? Your essay(s) and your recs. You can’t do anything about mediocre recs, but perhaps your essays aren’t up to snuff, either. NYU shouldn’t be an issue with your stats, but it’s more selective than UMich, so you’ll need the strongest chances you can get. I don’t know much about NYU supplements, but make sure they’re outstanding.

Good luck!! :)

Can you send me your essays? I too am a curious as to why you got deferred and I’m guessing it has something to do with them.

What about SAT scores and subject tests?

I didn’t take the SAT or subject tests, because AP’s and the ACT are much more heavily emphasized in Michigan, where I live.
@bomerr Sending them to you now

I’m with bomerr - not sure why you got deferred…

^ I read his personal statements, they weren’t awful but they were off the mark and didn’t help his cause. So the deferral isn’t too surprising.

I think it might help if you send a letter expressing your continued interest at U Mich. Also, I think your stats are fine for NYU and it’ll come down to your essays. Might be a little low for stern but totally fine for any other program

What is your intended major and where is your home state?
I am not surprised if you are deferred as oos CoE applicant at UMich as that would be a high match anyway. For oos LSA, it should be a match that is likely accepted in the RD round. For the stat of the EA admitted students reported here, most are low match oos or match in state students.
