Chance me for mid-year transfer please

Hey all, I'm currently a sophomore at George Washington interested in transferring to Notre Dame. I was wondering if someone would be kind enough to chance me for transferring in Spring 2011.

Sex: Male
Perm. Residence: Northern Virginia (metro Washington, DC area)
Race: White, but will leave blank on application
Religion: Catholic
Current School: The George Washington University
College GPA: 3.55
Major: International Affairs
Credit hours completed: 38 (3 from AP)
Credit hours in progress: 16.5
HS GPA: 4.06 weighted. Top 5% of my class
SAT: 1470/1600, 2180/2400
Activities:
-Army ROTC cadet on 4-year, full-tuition scholarship. One of the top cadets in my battalion in quantitative categories such as GPA, physical fitness scores, and military science grades. I plan on continuing this at ND
-Knights of Columbus
-Interned last summer in the political action department the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Will be able to get a letter of recommendation signed by the president of the union.
-Spent each of the last 5 summers (with the exception of the most recent one due to my internship) working on dilapidated/damaged homes in North Carolina for the poor and elderly.

I was accepted to ND as a rising freshman but for some reason chose to go to GW instead. Wish I could take that back but this is the next best thing.

I know my GPA, while good, doesn't exactly jump off the page. Would the fact that I do ROTC (an almost 20 hr/week commitment) while taking 17.5 credits both semesters last year help improve the perception of my 3.55 GPA?

Applications for students intending to transfer into Notre Dame in Spring 2011 were due three days ago…so you might have to set your sights on transferring for Fall 2011 instead.

That being said, my advice is to get in touch with the Admissions Office ASAP and see what can be done. You can call them at (574) 631-7505, or email them at transfer@nd.edu.

Also, while things like GPA, extracurriculars and so on are important, Notre Dame also has very specific requirements for incoming transfer students, based on your major – if you’re continuing as international studies, you want to look at the College of Arts and Letters to ensure that you meet the requirements: [College of Arts and Letters // Admissions // University of Notre Dame](http://admissions.nd.edu/admission-and-application/transfer-students/evaluation-guides/college-of-arts-and-letters-transfer-student-evaluation-guide/)

Also, I have no idea how transferring ROTC battalions works, but that’s likely something you should look into as well. Perhaps touching base with the ND ROTC commanders will help you. [Home of ND ROTC](Army ROTC | University of Notre Dame)

Hope this helps. Please let me know how the conversation with the Admissions Office goes.
