I’ve just been deferred by Williams College earlier today. As an international student requiring financial aid, ED2 is a valuable opportunity. I want to know my chances at Middlebury, whether the school is a reach or a match, and whether RD would be significantly harder. Here we go.

Curriculum/GPA
My school is a “lite” international school, meaning relatively few students go abroad and no international courses are offered. I’m not a part of the international program and my curriculum consists of preparation for the national college entrance exam (gaokao). Courses are Maths, Physics, Chem, Biology, English and Chinese. As such the first four courses are significantly more rigorous and demanding than their U.S. counterparts.
GPA (unweighted, 100 scale) Grade 9-11 average: 92.9; Grade 11: 95.1
These convert to 3.9 and 4.0 on a 4.0 scale.
