  • Member of Senior Planning Committee (plans for senior events like grad trips and prom)
  • played flute since 3rd grade (won a 2nd place at a competition in 10th grade and was in marching band in 9th but I moved here in 10th grade so that’s it…) (I also performed at the school’s award ceremony in front of the whole student body and faculty so teachers do know that I’m a good flute player if this helps)

Research:
I researched about beam elastics and my paper got published on an applied mathematics journal this August.

Awards:

  • AIME qualifier
  • won science student of the year at school in junior year
  • won 1st place at a 3D drone design competition this summer
  • won scholarship at school in sophomore year which is given to three students in each grade every year
  • Presidential Service Award Bronze

Volunteer:

  • 150+ hours
  • have been in the only student tutoring program at my school since 11th grade (now a senior advisor, but I don’t get volunteer hours for this)

Internship:

  • interned at an entrepreneurship center this summer (I’ll mention Entrepreneurship and Innovation Minor and a book on entrepreneurship by an MIT professor that I read in the essay)

I want to apply MIT EA Civil Engineering (with E&I Minor). I know it’s hard but I just wanted to know my chances. Thanks a lot! :slight_smile:

You should read these. No one can properly chance you since everyone has the credentials. Focus on your interview and essays! Good luck!

^^^Agreed, you are a competitive applicant but nobody can “chance you” at a school with under a 10% admission rate that has to turn down many qualified candidates. You’ll have to apply and see what happens like everyone else. Good luck.
