Chance me for MIT Regular Action, I just got deferred.

I just got deferred until Regular Action, I applied early. I have a cumulative GPA of 4.28, I've taken all the AP classes available to me, a total of 8, and I've taken the test for World History despite not taking the class.

SAT 2110

SAT Math 2 770

AP US History 4
AP Bio 4
AP English Language 3
AP Calc AB 1

I'm taking AP Calc BC, AP English LIT/ Comp, AP American Gov't, and AP Spanish Language. I have over 200 community service hours. I had a great interview that lasted for 2 hours. I'm ranked number 1 in my class at a private college prep Catholic High School.

So what do you guys think my odds of getting in are? I've also applied to UCLA, UCSD, UCSB, UC Berkeley, Carnegie Mellon, and Stanford.

Your scores are there.

ETA: Er, I didn’t see that AP Calc AB 1 though. What happened there?

I don’t see much outside that, though. Could you expand on the sort of community service you do, things you’re passionate about, the type of stuff you wrote in your essays?

My unweighted GPA is a 4.00

I got a new Calculus teacher this year, last year’s had never once had a student pass the AP.

I’ve mostly tutored kids at elementary schools, computer repair and business network setup for community service. I’ve done about 100 hours of tutoring and 100 hours of computers. Also, I sent in ACT scores in lieu of the regualr SAT.

In my essays I wrote about the difficulties of growing up on a farm with a father who thinks school should not be important at all, my determination for the personality essay, my passion for computers in the what you want to do essay, riding quads in the pleasure essay, and my family, school and town, which has limited opportunities for education, my entire high school is 84 students, and the local colleges bump high school students out of classes if a college student wants to take the class, so I’ve been bumped from all the classes I’ve tried to take except Algebra 2 three years ago, for the essay about your world.

You have a chance, but it’s hard for anyone to accurately choice you. After all, we’re not the admissions officers, and all the admissions officers (the only people who can give you a semblance of a chance) don’t post on here. Additionally, your app will show so much more of you than we can see from posts on here, and you really shouldn’t post your entire app on here.

Don’t worry about numbers and chances. Just know that by applying you gave yourself a chance, and that makes a big difference.

40% chance, MIT is all about math and science, especially if that’s your area of major. You have great test scores but your performance at the college level with AP seems like a wavering contradiction to that. Do you have more than one rank 1?

^ where did the 40% chance come from? ***?

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/massachusetts-institute-technology/939227-reminder-no-one-not-even-me-can-give-you-accurate-chance-mit.html

If not even MITChris can give you an accurate “chance”, I’m not so sure we will be able to. With how expansive the holistic approach is, it is near impossible to compare two applicants. I know this doesn’t help but you’re application is done, it’s winter break, and tomorrow is the first day of 2011. Enjoy your break! March isn’t that far away, all you can do now is wait.
