Self-studied multiple AP tests, as a Freshman I took AP Comp Sci, Calculus BC, Human Geo (easy class), Statistics and got all fives. This May I’m taking five more, including AP Physics C Mech and E and M. I’m kind of a technical mathy guy, and have taken college level math at UCI since Freshmen year summer. So far I’ve taken Multivar Calc, Linear Algebra, Abstract Algebra, and currently enrolled in Differential Equations. MIT, (and also Stanford) is my dream school, and want to know if I’ve got a shot.
@rshortsma Your GPA and scores are great. What do you like to do outside of class? MIT and Stanford value that highly.
Outside of just class, I’m on my school’s JV Sailing Team (pretty good, since our varsity is top 5 in the nation),like to learn cool physics (this summer in my spare time I’m going to try to study for the International Physics Olympiad), and enjoy writing code. Also, my friend and I are in process of starting a non-profit foundation (paper work hasn’t come back yet with 503c status) about engaging local high school computer science students or enthusiasts to teach afternoon classes at local elementary and middle schools.
You’re a sophomore. Chill out. Keep doing what you’re doing, and you’ll have good a shot as anyone.
