Chance me for MIT

Indian Male
UW: 3.08
W: 3.23
ACT: 32

ECs are decent but nothing spectacular. I did a lot of activities relating to my major: Aerospace Engineering.

I know my grades are awful and even my ACT is way below their average but I have a unique story that I wrote about in my essay and with good rec letters, do I have any chance of even being considered? MIT has been my dream school forever, I am friends with a lot of the students and even some of the faculty so is there anyway they can look past my low stats. Please don’t hesitate to be honest af with me

Good that you’re applying my friend, however, I must admit it will be a long shot. I had a friend who is the same as you racially, but with a W:4.2 and a 36 on the ACT with an IB diploma and plenty of amazing ECs, ankd he got rejected. I definitely think, even though the odds are against you, it is good that you applied. Make sure to apply to other schools as well, and good luck! I hope you beat the odds!

@2coo4skoo - IMHO, you should focus on other schools. No matter how great a story your essay is about, these stats are not going to cut it for MIT or any other selective schools.

Nope — there is probably 0 chance for you to get into MIT :confused:

@2coo4skoo:
While I agree that based on what you provided, you have an uphill battle, especially in a school where getting accepted is an uphill battle for everyone.

With competitive schools like MIT, no matter how strong your application is, it’s critical to have your applications to all your “plan b” schools in top shape.

Lastly, I would never listen to anyone who says you have 0 chance to get into MIT. I never would have been accepted if I listened to the people who told me that.

Make sure you will apply to a number of matches and safeties. MIT is highly unlikely to happen.

oh trust me, the rest of my colleges are pretty tame. MIT is my dream school and it felt wrong not to apply

@2coo4skoo - no harm (other than application fee and app prep time) applying. Btw - you said Indian male - are you international or US?

I currently live in California, although I moved from Massachusetts last year
