Chance me for my 7 colleges

UW GPA: 3.58, W GPA= 4.1
Class rank: 18 of 203 (top 9%)
SAT: 1940 (retaking in october) 600 R, 720 M, 620 W
SAT subject tests: CHEM: 680, BIO M: 710, MATH II: 730
math and science grades since freshman year:
algebra 1 accelerated: B+ Biology Honors: B+ (freshman)
Geometry accelerated: A- Chemistry regular: A (sophomore)
(took an algebra 2 course over the summer and got an A)
Pre-calculus HON: A- Biology AP: A-

Next year i'm taking Physics honors, AP AB Calculus, and AP statistics

By the end of next year i will have taken 7 AP classes (english language and english lit, us and european history, bio, calc, and stats)

i have about 200 hrs of community service helping out with a youth basketball team and helping the special needs kids in my school with their classes (a club im in called peer mentoring)

EC's: Peer mentoring, Arts academy (an art class that replaces homeroom), ambassadors club (show people around at open houses), science olympiad, im on the staff for my schools art and literary magazine, and ive played recreational basketball leagues since fifth grade.

For my SAT's, i've taken a few of the college board's prep book's practice test, my CR should definitely come up to at least 660, and probably 700 at the most, and my writing should be around 650. Math so far has not exceeded 720, so im gonna assume that 720 is gonna be my highest math score.

I'm going to apply to the engineering colleges for each of these colleges and university, and i know that automatically makes it harder to get in...

RPI
Lehigh
URI (in state)
University of Maryland--College Park (oos)
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (oos)
Purdue University (oos)
University of Michigan---Ann Arbor (oos)

Thanks

RPI: Match
Lehigh: Reach
URI: Match
University of Maryland–College Park: High Match
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign: Reach
Purdue University: Match
University of Michigan—Ann Arbor: Reach

URI: safety/low match
UIUC: high reach
UMichigan: high reach

Am i really that far off for UIUC and U mich???

^ Your uwGPA is way too low for UMich and UIUC engineering (avg 3.9), your SAT is also below the 25% (even below the 25% for UMich overall, not to mention CoE). They are indeed reach for you. Even Purdue engineering is also very competitive. It would be high match to low reach for you.

Ok well thats a little better…i know my GPA is low but my high school is more challenging than average, if im correct, at a HS of normal difficulty a 3.58 would not get you in the top 9%, which is why i was hoping my ranking would indicate that

UIUC puts rigor and GPA as the most important
Talent, rank, ECs, essay, SAT/ACT, and recommendations are important as well.

If you can write a great essay and get great recs that will go a long way.

RPI - Match
Lehigh - Low Reach
URI (in state) - Safety
University of Maryland–College Park (oos) - Match
University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (oos) - Reach (apparently tough for engineering)
Purdue University (oos) - Match
University of Michigan—Ann Arbor (oos) - High reach (you’d need ~2200+ SAT to have a shot at compensating for that GPA at UM, and even that would still make it far from a guarantee; your class rank, however, will help).

@Chlogan3921:
UIUC do not accept recommendation letters. I know it is a kind of strange, but it is the case. Essay is important though.

apply to wpi, and ed to carnegie mellon.(one of the best programs in the country and if you ed im pretty sure youll get in). You may want to get u of rochester on there. Just suggestions

Do you really think if i applied ED to carnegie mellon i would get in?? I was looking into that but the stats for the engineering college (CIT) were so far above mine i figured i had no chance

and anyone else on the original question?

i got into UMDCP and Lehigh so i have some insight on those.

UMDCP is all numbers so as long as your SAT score is 1900+ and your GPA is 3.5+ it should be a match

Lehigh is a reach for you as they are very nitpicky with everything from recs to SAT II scores.

UMI: High reach
Lehigh: Reach
UMD: Match/High match
UIUC: Reach
Purdue: High match
URI: Safety
RPI: Match/High match
