Univ Maryland College Park- match
Univ Illinois Urbana Champaign- safety
NYU- match
Rutgers Univ- safety
Carnegie Mellon- reach
Georgia Tech- safety

@vaishS but isn’t urbana champaigns CS program one of the best?

@IDontKnow4‌ yes, but still with ur SAT and stats it shouldnt be hard to get into

oh really? bc I thought math for comp sci there should be 750+ @VaishS‌

Rutgers you can certainly get into, I’d call it a target or even a safety. (source: relative works at new brunswick campus), same with U of Illinois at Urbana-Champlain
University of Maryland,Carnegie Mellon and Georgia Tech are probably targets
NYU would be a low to middle reach

@IDontKnow4 that would be nice, but its not a major part!

@Millical‌ u really think 700M will satisfy urbana comp sci program in engineering college? its ranked 5-6th…

and thanks! @VaishS‌

listen buddy im not an expert im just trying to help, no need to be rude

@IDontKnow4‌ - Those rankings are more for grad school admissions. Ones that purport to be for undergrad programs are pretty worthless. I think your 4.0 UW GPA will carry more weight. Not to mention that a 700 is still very good, even excellent. Your odds are good to strong for all your schools.

oh well that clears it up  thanks @fallenchemist‌

The only schools I could possibly see rejecting you are Carnegie Mellon and NYU, but even then I’d say you have a pretty great chance. Your 1970 SAT I score matched with that Bio score basically guarantees you in. As long as you do well on the Math, I think you’re safe.

@IDontKnow4 - I agree with @JuniorBengal‌ that CMU and NYU are probably the lower odds, although still good. My question is whether NYU is particularly known as a CS school. I could be way off on this, but it seems to me that every other school on your list is more highly thought of in that field as far as overall resources go. Not that you couldn’t get a good background for grad school (if that is your goal) at NYU most likely, but I just associate those other schools as being much stronger overall. Could just be my ignorance regarding that major at NYU.

Of course it all depends on exactly what you are looking for in a school, but if you do get into CMU I have heard great things about the undergrad experience in CS there.

@JuniorBengal‌ @‌fallenchemist thanks for the input! but @JuniorBengal‌ i saw on Univ Illinois website that Engineering school requires 1400+ CR+M… and i have only 1290… since they dont superscore my subscores. My 1970 wouldnt really be evaluated right?

<a href=“Page Not Found, Illinois Undergraduate Admissions”>http://admissions.illinois.edu/apply/requirements_freshman.html</a></p>

@Idontknow4 I was unaware of that. I suppose if that is absolute necessity, then you may be locked out of their school.

But I see you getting into all the others. If you’re pushing for grad school, then I’d recommend Carnegie Mellon anyway.

bump

@IDontKnow4 - Wow, that is a high standard. Even if they do superscore you fall a little short. The only thing I can suggest is that you contact the admissions person responsible for the Engineering School and see if there is any balancing between GPA and SAT scores, and if they take the best of your two tests so you would be at 1340. Because frankly I find this

contradictory and confusing.

@fallenchemist‌ yes I have looked into it and that’s how it is I guess but they have computer science in Liberal Arts and Sciences school as well… however its not as “good” as ENG school obviously. I was also wondering if CS in ENG or LAS would have different job prospects… bc one might seem more prestigious than the other(ENG).
