Chance me for my dream school, Notre Dame!!!!

Hey everyone! It would be really cool if you could take a look and give me a chance!

Ethnicity: White
Region: Michigan

GPA: 3.99 (My school doesn't weight)

ACT: english: 31; math: 29; composite: 30 (I just took it again and am waiting on scores)
SAT: english: 700; math: 650; writing: 560 (I also retook this and know my score went up)

Teaching sunday school to 4 yrs- preschool (this year and next)
Vacation Bible School- I have helped every year since age 12
Serving meals at the local homeless center once a month through my church

Job:
I clean a jewelry store and have for all of HS (summer and durring the school year)
I am hoping to get a second job over the summer but the job market is pretty scarce.

Sports:
Crew- 2 seasons as a freshman one as a sophomore
Ski racing team (varsity)- Newly formed this year
I have been skiing since i was 4 and learned to snowboard this year (snow sports are my passion )
I've been going to a gym on my own since freshman year but I don't think that really counts for anything

Clubs:
NHS- inducted as a sophomore
French Club (treasurer) - every year in hs. I will be running for pres next year
Key club- this year and next
One Child at a Time (Founder/President): Raises money to sponsor children in impoverished countries

Honors:
I made it to the local level of the chem Olympiad (I haven't gotten results for nationals yet) but would this really count for anything?

Other info:
I will be taking part in a mentoring program next year called trailblazers where seniors go to local elementary schools for an hour every day
I also applied to be an OG (orientation guide)

Thanks for taking the time to read through all of this! I really appreciate it. I know my user name is "Princeton girl" but that was before i discovered Notre Dame. To me it is everything and more that I could ever want in a college!

Bummmmmp I’ll chance back!

Thanks for chance =].
I think you are in pretty good shape if you can get ur SAT up. Definitely on the right track. Try to group things together and have a focus on your application, perhaps try to get some more awards and leadership experience. Right now…I’d say a low match for Notre Dame.

Just improve those test scores (especially SAT writing) and try to achieve a top 5% rank to become a high match. Your GPA will look great.

Also, going to the gym is not an EC and being Methodist will not affect your chances.

Good luck and Go Irish!

Yeah test scores will probably be your only issue. Also if your extracurriculars tend to focus on a passion or interest than it will show direction and not that you’re just doing it to bulk up your application. But you’ve got a really good shot at it especially with your GPA.

Thanks for the chances! I have a couple questions:
It seems like a lot of the people who are getting accepted have really high test scores, would I be rejected solely based on the fact that I could probably never get a 2300 on the SAT or a 34 on the ACT even if I have a lot of passion for the school and do a lot outside of school and take a really hard course load?

Also, I know ND suggests that only the most qualified students apply EA, should I still apply EA and if I do would I have a decent chance of being accepted or would I probably be deferred? or even flat out rejected?

bumppp someone help me out please? I’ll chance back asap!

improve tests and ull e good

Also, I was wondering if I should include the fact that I’ve overcome sensory disintegration disorder (its an autism spectrum disorder) and a significant anxiety disorder? I don’t want to come off as a sympathy case…

right now you have a great chance if you get a 32 on the act i would almost guruntee it.

About your question, if you should apply EA, it seems to me like every school gives better odds to those who apply EA. However, definitely be sure you really want to go to Notre Dame!

And as for whether you should include those, I personally wouldn’t. Maybe do, if you feel like it’s necessary to understand your background? Also, if it fits an essay topic you could use it then. Just don’t make it the sole factor they’ll define you by, I think.

And to me it looks like you have at least a decent chance of getting in, despite your test scores, your GPA is obviously great.

Chance me?
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/what-my-chances/893614-please-chance-me-top-tier-schools.html

Lol 3.99 GPA and only top 10? More like top 1-2% unless you go to a really competitive school!

Your test scores are pretty okayish, and your faith to your religion and the school’s faith def is a bonus. I’d probably emphasize in ur essays (if they like allow or w.e. methodiasm).

If your applying ED, which I assume u r since its ur dream school, than its almost like a 60 percent chance ur in… maybe even more

Thanks guys!

Yeah agreed with the above sentiment… 3.9 UW is ridiculous, so you’re probably 5%+
If Notre Dame is your one and only, then you need to apply ED, which will guarantee you a higher chance of acceptance and you want all the edges you can get. You have a good balance of academic ECs and Sports, so you’re well balanced. I’d say if you apply ED to Notre Dame, then you should be a match - as long as you raise your SAT and ACT scores

so I just for my SAT scores back:
CR:670
Math:680
Writing: 670 (I’m quite pleased about this one!)
Total:2020
Superscored: 2050

Previous score:1910
CR:700 M:650 W:560

Should I take it again?

you can take it again if you want, but i’m sure your GPA will overshadow weaker SAT scores. and you did get 2000+, which is great.

so your name is princetongirl and your top school is Notre Dame? haha.

you should be fine. work on your extracurriculars and get good scores on your SAT Subject Tests!!
