I'm a rising senior who plans to apply to NYU College of Arts and Science Early Decision I this fall. I should mention that I won't need to apply for financial aid.

Overall UW GPA: 3.58 with a big upward trend (3.22 freshman year, 3.64 sophomore year, 3.89 junior year. )

My school doesn't release class rank

SAT Score (first try... retaking in the fall again): 2010... 680 CR, 640 math, 690 writing

APs: Government (3 on the AP test... do you think I should send the score?), Spanish Language, English Language, European History, Environmental Science

Junior Grades (electives not included):
AP Government/Politics A-
Honors Spanish A
Honors English A
Expository Writing/Grammar A-
Chemistry 2 A-
Algebra 2 A
Geometry A
(yes, I took both Alg2 and Geometry as a junior because my lackluster work ethic in middle school put me in a math sequence that was far too easy... probably the cause for my awful math SAT score)

AP Spanish Language
AP English Language
AP Environmental Science
AP European History
Trigonometry

Your ECs are good as is your GPA. If you add maybe one or two more leadership roles, you will be in good shape. Your SAT is about average for NYU. I think your chances are pretty good!

Please chance back. My thread is “Review my List… Please”

First and foremost, disclaimer: I won’t pretend to know much about this stuff, as all I know is through hanging around this site and preparing for my own applications/figuring out my own chances.

You’re ECs are fine. You’re GPA shouldn’t be a problem, although only one AP through Junior year might be if you’re school offers a lot of/most APs. You’re SATs are about average as someone pointed out, but it wouldn’t hurt to try to get them up a bit. You are looking pretty good.

Unfortunately, your chances are a little slim for NYU unless you can write some outstanding essays that really reflect your EC’s and how you have developed/are continuing to develop as a result of them as well. Definitely retake the SAT, and make sure you take some subject tests as well.

You’re a little iffy right now. Definitely retake the SAT and get those scores up and keep working on your GPA. Your ecs are great, so keep working hard and I think you’ll have a good chance.
