<p>I think many kids from small towns without a lot of academic competition don’t come to understand what it takes to get into very top schools like Stanford. Schools like this have an average SAT score of about 2200. While they might give you a break coming from a school with 1 AP, it won’t be a several hundred point break. And if your schools sends very few to top colleges, they would expect you to be at the very top of your class.</p>
<p>There are many great schools where you would have a shot. If you want to go out of state look at some where your sores are solidly at their 50th percentile or better.</p>
